I seriously thought Justin’s bashing was tge memorable thing you hinted at all season. Cause for me, that was the MOST ingrained scene in my psychie from Season ONE. You’re reaction made me relive that moment ALL over again. In literal tears watching this.

I am so mad that original song that Brian and Justin danced to is not there. The original song was: Save the Last Dance by Drifters, and for some reason, when the show went to streaming, all the original music was replaced. 😢 Brian's wail of Justin's name gets me every time!😢❤

I assumed he put that music over it for copyright reasons! That is so disappointing! Makes me glad I have this entire show on DVD I guess. I was obsessed with that song in high school because of this show.

It is another great episode where so much happens. Brian is being such a drama queen about turning 30. Emmett is such a sweetheart, can only wish i had a friend like him. Brian finally decided to make a romantic gesture and showed up at Justin's prom. They looked so happy smiling and dancing, but in a matter of minutes it went from total joy to complete heartbreak. So much pain on Brian's face in the hospital scene, difficult to look at. Gale is a great actor. In some interview where shooting of this scene was discussed, they said Gale was so immersed in his grief, he kept sitting motionless and crying for a while after the director said 'cut'.

The way Brian and Justin look dancing together is so beautiful, there's so much joy there. Just going to pretend that the show ends with them going back to Brian's loft and spending the night together.

I have seen this final episode at least 50 times, and I always sob hysterically (including this reaction). It's the best season finale of any tv series because it wraps everything up, ends on a massive cliffhanger but is an ending. I will say, the music being replaced really loses the magic of that prom dance.
@donnaanderson79547 ай бұрын
Totally agree. I'm glad I have the DVDs with the original music ("Save The Last Dance For Me" by The Drifters at the prom).

I remember watching this season finale for the 1st time... I did not know what was gonna happen at all. I was actually happy when Brian showed up to Justin's prom! I never saw a problem with their age difference tbh... It was the first time he showed a romantic gesture towards Justin. I happy cried when they danced. It was beautiful . And sad cried at the very end. This whole episode was just....heavy. I hope you'll enjoy Season 2!!! :"))

It’s so ahead of its time that it’s shocking to me!!! And I can’t believe that after this show ended that productions didn’t make any more gay heavy shows. (Especially showtime) it’s almost like we went back in the closet again and didn’t come back until 2013. So odd.

Like many others, when you said you remembered something from this ep I totally thought it was the (horrific) bashing. It must have been too painful to recall! Brian showing up at the prom is so hard to look at objectively; I would never do it myself, even if I was in my twenties, but I can imagine if I were in Justin's position it would be ridiculously romantic. I think it's supposed to be life affirming in a way, he was so close to ending it all and instead leans in. He doesn't do anything by half-measures. Everyone has already mentioned the real song Brian and Justin dance too, but I'll point out that the amazing classical piece that plays over the ambulance/Brian and Michael at the hospital is Parce Mihi Domine, performed by Jan Gabarek. It's stunning and worth a listen!
@bradcook8640Ай бұрын
The original broadcast (and DVD release) had a different song playing over the hospital scene and I miss it. Can't find it anywhere. I used to own the Season 1 DVD (bought it the day it came out back in 2000) but I've lost it since. The song was Parce Mihi Domine and it made the scene 10 times more heartbreaking

Hearing your ending thoughts and knowing what happens in the series makes it so difficult to respond and not give hints. Just know that in some ways you are spot on, but maybe not in the way you think. Season 1 is great, but Season 2 really starts to pick up and there is just so much to come. Season 3 is my favorite for so many reasons, so I'm glad you intend on finishing the series. Thank you for the reaction and your thoughts! I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be waiting patiently for Season 2!

Justin's bashing had so many lasting repercussions, it was heartbreakingly raw. That was the main thing that stuck with me from S1, seeing Brian cry, and ofc The Scarf (TM). I also forgot exactly what happened w/ David, since they were on/off a few times anyway. But I hated Mikey & David for years, so, lol. I'm shocked at how much they've grown on me during this rewatch.

This show was filmed two years after Matthew Shepherd's bashing and murder and I've seen somewhere that the writers wanted to draw attenion to what has happened to him and further (won't say more for spoilers for season 2). Showing Justin as a whole person and so full of life and then for this to happen to him. Also, they said how Randy looks a bit like Matthew, and being only one year younger than him inspired this storyline.

I was probably like 13-14 when i saw it, i really can't remember... since i was still very young i didn't know how to process things, and i had no one to talk to, so i was soooooooooooo scared. I rewatched and stopped watching the show several times, i only finished the whole show one time.

It's a fvcking hard scene to watch. I still skip the scene cause I can't handle it. But the writers, directors and the actors did the scene without the intention of 'shock factor', they wanted to show the crual REALity. I feel loke sometimes show uses topics like those, or similar, for pure shock factor. I really wish more people watch this show. After "watching" this show for the 1st time, i had to find something else to watch... and i found two movies that were/are my favorites, Shelter (2007?) and Just A Question of Love ❤

First time I'm seeing someone react to one of my favorite shows of all time!! A hug for you with that scene ❤ The reason it hurts so much is because we know things like that happened and are still happening to this day... I believe I one time heard/read that the actor who played David was homophobic. He used mouthwash after kissing Michael (Hal Sparks) bc apparently he hated kissing another men?! WTF? Don't know if this is true, but if so, it's disgusting to think that someone would join a queer show while being a homophobic prick. But I believe that's why they stopped/ended the David storyline! And it's definitely for the better

Happy you found this video :) and yeah I kinda find that hard to believe. No one forced him to go to the audition, audition, and then accept the role. For a straight guy to do a role like this. You have to be really comfortable in your own skin. Maybe he like said stuff he shouldn’t have that “wasn’t funny” or something. But I just don’t see him being a homophobe
