@Tina The best day is Saturday, most real garage sales don’t set up until then. Start on St. Simons Island & then head north on 341. Usually past Baxley you start getting antiques & new dollar stuff.
@GeminiThrifts9 ай бұрын
Good info! So many people mentioned they set up Thursday and fri due to the rain forecasted for Saturday..now I can deal with rain, but this seemed like it was gonna be downpours. Did you go this year? how was the weather saturday?

I've got a tip for you, don't be too specific as to specify brands and other tells which might give away the value of things when you ask what a price is. For example, if you're asking about a Gucci purse I wouldn't ask what they wanted for "the Gucci purse", I'd just point in it's general direction and ask "what are you asking for the purse?" Unthinkingly, they might just say $5 and then even if they realized what they'd done many people wouldn't want to look foolish so they'd just let you have it for the $5 quoted.
@nancyfell23919 ай бұрын
I have not gone to Peaches to Beaches because I was told it was exactly what you experienced. I have so much fun at the 127 sales. Some areas of that are good some are not.

Yeah "an antique mall booth at the flea market" that's exactly what i was thinking when that lady said $55 for the wall pocket. lol i also would be VERY skeptical about EVEN cole hanns authenticity at the flea market- they literally counterfeit ANYTHING nowadays- its unreal. glad you made out at the QVC sale though- awesome finds there! 👏

A socioeconomic statement if there ever was one. the complete contrast between obscene consumerism in areas where there is MONEY vs those where there is NOT. There are still many areas in the South that are poor...people dont have the $$$ to buy all this STUFF, and even if they do, they have to hang on to it a lot longer. Additionally, population distribution plays a big role.

You decided to shop in a rather poor region of the state, Doing your research for per capita income when going to yard sales in a strange place is extremely important. The higher the income in the area the less "dollar general" stuff you will find. There are LOADS of treasures to be found in the right places, closer to the larger cities. Im wondering exactly where in Georgia you were.
@ginajessup34149 ай бұрын
There is at least 200 miles of Peaches to Beaches sales. She only shopped at the beginning of the route in a small town. She would have definitely found good stuff further along the route if she was willing to travel. She gave up pretty quickly. She seemed to compare her shopping experiences in Pennsylvania to a tiny part of Georgia. I thought she was pretty insulting to my great state.

Listen, I'm not trying to offend anyone, just wanted to give a honest take on my personal experience. The state itself was lovely, but again so is Alaska and I'd also never want to move there. It's personal preference. People roast New Jersey on a regular basis, including one of my daughters, but I don't care. It's personal opinion, everyone has a right to it. That doesn't mean I don't love my Georgia subscribers :)
