The way I see it, Dave created Ahsoka so his version of her story is the canon. It's his story to tell.

Yes, I was about to say the same thing! Ahsoka is his baby and we know just how carefully he does everything with her story. The 'Ahsoka' novel was good and I binge read that thing in, like, a day, but Dave Filoni is ultimately in charge of Ahsoka's canon story. He did pay homage to some of what what in the novel, like Ahsoka fighting an inquisitor (and most likely taking their kyber crystals, even if it wasn't shown), but he ultimately can do whatever he wants with her story. I'm glad that the author of the novel is very chill and respectful about that. I just wish more of the fans understood it, too.

Ahsoka was created by George Lucas.

@@likeluptid Eh, to an extent. It's mostly Dave Filoni who oversees everything regarding her, though. He even directed her episode of 'The Mandalorian' personally.

@@mikaelacash3791 George Lucas created the Ahsoka character.

@@likeluptid You already said that... And I know she was. I was just trying to say that Filoni does all the writing for her character now. George created her, but Filoni is also incredibly invested in her character and is mostly in control of where she goes in her story now.

I read the Ahsoka novel and watched Tales several times. I never understood what people were referring to when ep 6 "retconned" the Ahsoka novel. Ep 6 just felt like an extremely condensed version of the novel. My biggest and really only criticism of Tales was that instead of doing a condensed version of the novel, just make an entire limited series on it in animation.
@mikaelacash37912 жыл бұрын
I agree on not understanding the complaints about the retcon. Things were condensed, not retconned. I wish we could get a longer animated series about Ahsoka's adventures on the run and then with the Rebellion, too, but I understand what Filoni was saying about why he couldn't do that. Everything takes money, and even just this mini series or shorts took money that he had to find somehow.

@@mikaelacash3791 Yeah, I think Tales needed one last scene: Ahsoka healing the kyber crystals back to their natural color, in this case: white. It would have set up her appearance in Mando season 2 really well and made things more clear for audiences that have only seen the Disney+ material.

@@kybernetic8 I'VE BEEN SAYING THE SAME THING!!! I REALLY wanted a scene of her healing the crystals and/or building her new lightsabers! I felt like that's such an important part of her transition to being who she is now, but they didn't show it 😞

Star Wars canon weight will always follow: Films > TV > Books. No Star Wars book will ever prevent a filmmaker or showrunner from telling the story they want to. They just aren’t popular enough with the general population nor are they well written enough to matter. I’d even bet Fallen Order’s place in canon is above the books.

I don't think this says anything about whether or not it retcons the book? Unless I missed something... But even since season 7 of CW events it book were slightly different (Ahsoka's fight with Maul.) . The episode definitely seems like a condensed version of the book. And who cares if the side characters are different, they weren't memorable... The things about the book i thought were cool were, Ahsoka turning the crystals white, her meditations into the force, and the descriptions we get of her talking about her "brothers" and what not. But I think every star wars fan has to keep in mind anything that's not in video representation is subject to be over ridden at some point, whether it's comics or books, because they aren't the people who are writing the shows and movies.

I completely disagree with your assertation that this isn't a retcon. Her back and forth with Bail alone, both at the beginning, and at the end, completely contradict this. Most who have read the book will CLEARLY come away with the impression that the events in this episode are meant to be a condensed version of the events on Raada. If Tales lived in the same universe as the novel, this would have had to occur BEFORE Raada (couldn't... there would be no contact with Bail), or AFTER (couldn't... she had clearly began work as Fulcrum, and was no longer in "must hide as Ashla" mode). Neither are feasible. That being said... I don't particularly care. The novel had already been partially retconned by season 7 of Clone Wars. Ahsoka IS Filoni's baby, so he should be able to do with her character as he pleases, as long as he doesn't go retconning his own work... And, to be quite honest... it is not a particularly well written novel in my opinion. It has a couple decent moments (Ahsoka reuniting with R2 and Bail... Ahsoka's whole process of finding her new crystals). But, aside from that, it does an extremely poor job of making any of it's characters memorable outside of the characters that we already knew, causing multiple instances where I had to backtrack in the novel in a "wait, who was that again?" manner.

Umm how does it not recon part of the book when it's the same time as the book and is different from it like how she gets her lightsaber cystles in the book she used the force to pull them out of his sabar in the show she used his sabar to cut his head Off not exploding it that's a recon
