@ihurtmyi902 ай бұрын
@bigguy7353 it's a bot for a sex site, it goes against the TOS of KZbin. There are rules for a reason
@ChristoffRevan2 ай бұрын
@@bigguy7353What an absolute dumb take...there are objective ways to find out if a comment is from a bot, so it's not some special art. Often they contain a real sounding name with a string of numbers following it oftentimes; they'll also sometimes have a picture of a woman, sometimes a very suggestive picture of a beautiful one. The accounts will also be very new, sometimes even made within the day of posting the comment...even if they're older than that, they're often less than a year old. That's not even to mention that if anyone tries to post a link in a KZbin comment, they're almost always up to no good (you should never click on a random link anyway). Anyways, the reason to ban bots is that they CAN send links, or their profile will have links (which they try to intrigue people enough to check it) and thus they become a security risk to people merely by existing since even though most wouldn't click random links... you'll always get people that do, either purposely or accidentally. So, it's to protect viewers that one must ban such comments, plus having a comment section filled with fake people just doesn't look good and drowns out legitimate people and legitimate comments

Yes, please make a video about the term "samurai." I've made my way through a massive chunk of the Konjaku Monogatari Shu (not completely done but almost) and I have never found a single instance of the term "samurai" coming even close to being synonymous with "warrior." A guest on The Shogunate's channel, a Japanese historian, pointed out that for many of the earlier warlords, they would have been insulted if you had called them "samurai" as they were not servants. Even in Musashi's Go Rin no Sho (which I'm admittedly not as familiar with) he uses the term "buke" 武家 in references to warriors, not "samurai." In short, I think a deep dive into the meaning of the term and how it changed over time would be a very beneficial topic for a video. Now that I got that off my chest, this was a great video, made me literally lol a few times and I am now subscribing to this man's channel.

The power shift to Edo wasn't until after the sengoku jidai. You explained the power shift to Edo with the establishing of the Bakufu, but the Bakufu was established in the beginning of the Kamakura period several hundred years prior. It was the weaking of the Ashikaga shogunate that started the sengoku jidai (ish).
@bigguy73532 ай бұрын
What is "weaking"? Looked it up, not a word. Do you mean "weakening"?
@luckyels30342 ай бұрын
Yeah Muromachi was a district in Kyoto from which the Ashikaga shogunate ruled, the idea was that by being in the same city as the emperor the shogun could better control him so that the emperor would not try another coup. But Metatron is technically right because the first bakufu was that of Kamakura, a city which lies to the East in today's Tokyo metropolitan area.

I'm very surprised Metatron didn't know the story behind the triforce and the Hojo clan. This kamon can be seen in a lot of place in Japan, most famously in Enoshima (a touristy island in the south of Kyoto, linked by bridge). The triforce symbol is all over the place, they even have lantern, and famous cave linked to it. Even one of the famous 36 view of japan made by Hokusai was made here! (you know, the most famous "painter" of all japan) All in all, i don't know why they specificaly chose the kanon of the Hojo clan (difficult to find a real source on the matter), but this kanon was used by other company so it's not uncommon to reuse some symbol. The theory i prefer on the matter is this happen because of Gunpei Yokoi. The man invented the famous game boy and was a menber of the Hojo clan. So because he was an important figure of Nintendo, he influence the choosing of the symbol of the triforce by putting the kanon of his clan. I don't know if it's true but you can still see the Hojo kanon on his tomb.

Japan did actually have a malnutrition issue during the Sengoku period. Nutrition simply wasn't a thing back then and the only food you were sort of guaranteed to have access to year-round was rice. That, combined with a culture of asceticism (although it'd be encoded in law later, the public frowned on the accumulation of wealth) and a cultural / legal prohibition on the consumption of meat meant that many people could have very limited diets. Thiamine deficiency (think scurvy but for vitamin B1 rather than C) in particular, was a very common problem in East / SE Asia to the point that it's common name (Beriberi disease) originates from Sinhalese. And Japan was no different. Somewhat ironically the people who were eating a diet rich in hulled rice were heavily deficient in vitamin B1 (since it was mostly in the hull of the rice) while peasants who were subsisting on wild rice and buckwheat and other peasant foods generally avoided this issue. But the oldest accounts of Beriberi are found in ancient Chinese texts and even back then they at least had some idea of how to treat it- natto.

Back to Yasuke being a Samurai. What needs more research done is Sengoku military structure. I have seen the documents were having X amount of Koku = you are expected to bring x amount of troops. If you are wealthy enough you are expected to start bringing Yari spears and all. That entire chain and how units and formations would be formed on the battlefield can always be covered more. Anthony Cummings has some great videos on it but there is never enough. Due to limited information, I am sure.
