Topps series 2 hobby boxes are probably the worst hobby boxes to date. A 1/1 triple auto in a fat pack, but the hobby boxes often times have a manufactured relic as the "hit". Manufactued relics used to be one per blaster lol

For those watching, make sure you record your rips. I didn't record my opening of a 2024 Topps Chrome blaster and pulled a Jasson Dominguez 1989 throwback Black parallel #'d to 10. Not sure if it would have made the list for August, but I'd estimate a $300 to $500 card. RECORD YOUR RIPS.

I ripped my first blaster in over 2 years about 2 months ago. 2024 nba prizm monopoly. First pack I seen wembanyama's name on the back.....then I seen numbering. I hadnt been following sports so I thought maybe $50 card....it ended up being a neon green /10 from a retail blaster from target in tolleson arizona. Centering was bad so I sold it raw for 2500

Wemby cards are creating their own private junk wax/slab era, now before some people lose their 💩 im talking about when it comes to the volume, he's had nearly as many total number of cards graded at just PSA as Patrick Mahomes. Its going to be interesting to see how value retention goes long term with the more common wemby cards (prizm base, silver, non-numbered parallel etc...)

Wemby is an awesome player and has a great career ahead of him barring injury, but I do agree from a content standpoint that it kinda gets old to see nothing but Wembys and Strouds every week on the Hobby and month on the Retail. Maybe Ian can set like a 2 pull limit for each of them or something? A lot of cool cards get pulled each month and they all get put on the side because of the same players over and over.

This whole thing has gotten SO GAY!!! Any group of a few people can coordinate to boost up the value of any card artificially through “gaming an auction”. Like me and a couple of my buddies in different cities can get into a fake bidding war over our buddy’s card up for auction. Get that price jacked up higher than what the card should sell for. So now that then becomes the “new sold-at-auction price” for that card. Then just pay the auction house fees and immediately put the 7 other ones you have of that same exact card up for sale at a slightly lower price than the artificially high new price that you successfully established and watch people jump all over those 7 new listing cards cuz they are “such a great deal”, where they are thinking to themselves “maybe they don’t know these cards sold for more than they are asking for them?”. Where you have them convinced they are getting a steal because you just don’t know how valuable they are now. All these high prices on these new “art cards” are a complete smoke show. Actual people are not dishing out $4,000 on a new basketball card. But It ‘seems’ like someone is though doesn’t it? Who? Who is actually going 🙋🏼‍♂️-“Oh me, I will pay $4,000 for that card that didn’t exist 3 weeks ago, but does now. Wow look how much it sparkles, and it’s worth so much because ‘someone’ other than me paid that much for one 2-days ago. Look that’s what it says” The fact that these brand new cards are supposedly worth $1,000s dollars while 60 year old PSA grade 7 star rookie cards that had to survive decades, only get a few hundred bucks should clue you in on the scam taking place. It’s the same way they print new money and introduce it as debt. These new cards will be debt for whoever pays $4,000 for them. They will never be able to sell it for that price to anyone. They are sucking the money out of the old cards and putting them into the new ones. While they make it virtually impossible to ever get better than a PSA 7 in ANY card pre-1980, even if God himself made a perfect card PSA ain’t gonna taint the pop for those holding the only GEM MT 10s of those players. That door is locked and welded shut. Hell they’d probably “ding” up any pre-80 card that dared to think itself worthy of a 10 grade. Cuz they want to be the gatekeepers, the “God” of the cards. Save all those 10s for the junk wax stuff, so you don’t look unreasonable. Cuz who cares if a 1990 Fleer or Topps Kent Hrbek gets a 10, it means nothing. It’s like a tree falling in the forest with no one around. But they can say they give out 10s.
