I am more so arguing that even if you want to go to the first time some people like to point out it still wouldn't make sense. To me his time period being gone before the androids is like calling a soldier a bad father for going to war. I say this because while he wasn't at war he was at a place that was really the only place that could teach him the techniques he learned there. While he didn't know for sure that he would need to use them he definitely understood that bigger and bigger threats keep on happening and he is the only person strong enough every single time. So to me people that call him a bad parent for that are wrong on so many levels.

But it's really weird because Frieza is somewhere in his thirties when he fights Goku on Namek, but it's the equivalent of him being in his 'awkward teenage years'. Jack, so the namek lore is the race used to be highly technologically advanced (hence the spaceship kami used) and with huge variety in plant life but a huge natural disaster drove all of them off the planet (except for guru) and cut the race down by a lot. The Namekians suffered greatly because of this and this is directly why they stood no chance against Friezas foot soldiers. Nameks have two types, the dragon type and the fighter type. The dragon type can create dragon balls and the fighter type is really adept at fighting. After the disaster the only fighter typed that remained were nail and the reincarnated Piccolo, though piccolo is a special case because he shows signs of being a dragon type but, it seems like he cant create dragon balls because he was birthed from a demon (speculation).

The Namekian fusion isn't actually a fusion. It's assimilation which was also the name of the real life episode. One side completely disappears and gives their power, knowledge and skills to the remaining side. It also gives a power boost to match the new increased potential which is why Piccolo went from like 20-30k to 1 million after this. This makes the remaining body much more fearsome then the combination of the part even discounting the power increase. Simply being able to add more skills, moves and fighting styles is enough to make somebody much more deadly even if their power or strength doesn't multiply.

Something that might be a bit subtler to get for someone - the music that plays when Piccolo shows up is Magus' boss battle theme from Chrono Trigger. Chrono Trigger is an old (and amazing!) SNES JRPG and its designs were made by Akira Toriyama. Magus is a pointy eared "demon" with skin of a weird colour and magic powers that initially fights the protagonists but later on ends up joining them against a greater common enemy, so yeah... obvious parallels are obvious.

So yeah, I think he realized they would be fools to fight him. I recall in one flashback the King told Vegeta (when he was a child) about how the low class Saiyan babies were being sent out to remote planets to conquer them for their kingdom, & Vegeta made fun of them for being weaklings, but his dad actually reprimanded him for it, saying they are proud members of the Sayian race & serve them loyally. I don't think Vegeta got his elitism from his dad, I think he just hates the idea of being weak or losing, probably since his whole life he has been living in Freeza's shadow, feeling weak & powerless, like a slave. I think he low key blames himself for what happened, like it was his duty to protect them as the next in line to the throne, but he failed.

The offical lore reason is because Namek suffered a horrible draught that killed all Namekians except for Guru and most of the life on the planet and it was still in a stage of being slowly nurtured back to life. Nonono, Piccolo is a junior. Kami is a part of Piccolo Senior. Kami was the good half, Piccolo Senior was the evil half who went on to get the title of "Demon King" for his actions and appearance. Then he spat out the Piccolo you know before DB spoilers, Piccolo Junior fuses with Nail at Namek, then fuses with Kami who I guess is actually.. Piccolo's Uncle in a sense? It's weird, not sure how Namekian familial relations work. Maybe he's Piccolo's dad since Kami was originally the good part of Piccolo Senior, maybe he's Piccolo's uncle because he's not actually technically Piccolo Senior anymore and is more of a relative at that point since he's a separate entity... But it's something along those lines.

Actually Piccolo's fusion with Nail was a huge buff. He died on earth with power around 3,500. Even if he had better training than Goku, in that short amount of time, I don't see him exceeding the 25,000 power range. Both the second and third form of Frieza seems to multiply his power by 2. So this would make second form Frieza 1,060,000. To put it simply, Piccolo went from around 25,000 to at least 1,100,000. So easily over 40 times boost.

7:35 Actually it's pretty inevitable that frieza 1 shot him. See frieza's powerlevel in his first form always has been 530k. He never trained in his life and was born with that power. In a Daizenshuu entry for Vegeta was stated that "his powerlevel surpassed his father when he was merely a child" and since Vegeta on Earth had a Powerlevel of 18.000 we can safely say if we highball kid vegeta and says he had a powerlevel of 15.000 that his father had to have below that. And with that difference it's more of a wash than Goku vs Nappa.

Nail was basically dead already and no longer a threat. Freeza didn't waste any time finishing him off once he realized that Vegeta and the others were back at the ship with the dragonballs.

I'm just gonna say, you might pick want to pick up Yu-Gi-Oh abridged after this is over. Sure, it's got kinda slower start that DBZA, but it was also started before it as well. 0:43 That's kinda how it is with most DB. You might think that's lazy cause you don't gotta draw much background (and I guess it is a bit), but also the whole point of fight Dr. Gero on some desert wasteland was to take him away from a city. 2:34 And Namekians are all named after slugs and snails. Nail is just missing an "S" at the start, Lord Slug, Dende is some pun on Japanese word or something and so on. Except Piccolo, since he was made long before his backstory and kept the musical instruments theme going.

Don't forget the DBZ Abridged movies! The originals weren't really part of the story at all, and most of them could be tossed in anywhere, but TFS changed enough of the dialogue that they actually fit into the timeline now.

After Piccolo fuses with Kami it puts him on the level of I wanna say Super Saiyan Grade 2 so about the level of Super Vegeta. Also the thing with Frieza is that because he was born with such a freakishly high power level he couldn't control all of it so he transformed down to forms, think of his first three forms as a form of power regulator.
