It's seems you missed my point as well. Her vocal style hasn't magically changed, this IS her voice. Janna said that she wanted to sing like Aretha when she was YOUNG, now she has a true idol - Jesus Christ. And I'm sorry you don't understand the concept of other artists influencing other artists when they are young - you're not a musician obviously. So just calm down and stop judging people. What are you talking about?! Aretha was an idol to many young girls during her prime, that doesn't make Janna a wannabe. This is the way her voice is. Her whole family has great voices and they all have soul in their voices. And I actually know the Potter family, they live in my hometown. The only one comparing voices is you, that should say something, and I don't think God cares about the individuality of the voice but the quality of the heart. Please calm down. Thanks in advance.

Take vocal lessons at your local community college or try Youth for christ, a music store. Just make sure your instructor is actively singing...that way, you will get real-world tips & pointers!

But if we are talking vocal prowess alone, the only other voice of similar style that can be compared to Aretha Franklin's is Mahalia Jackson.
