The 3D characters and water effects were so well done that the things movies usually do all the time were not looking good in this one. The airship and boat animations were wonky at times and some of the explosions too. Strange how the hardest stuff to do was perfect while the easy stuff was a bit off.

On the subject of Kiri's parentage, considering she too is played by Sigourney Weaver, while still unconfirmed it's very likely she's a reincarnation of Grace. Or even more on the nose, it could be an immaculate conception, making Kiri into Na'vi Jesus.

She's definitely going to be the avatar of Eywa (or Jesus as you say), if not I'd be really disappointed. It would explain all her powers and everything, reincarnation of Grace wouldn't explain anything, although she would technically be in there to as Grace is one with Eywa now. So I definitely think Eywa used Grace's avatar to birth itself into the world because Eywa knew the humans would be back and now they're going to need someone to unite all the life on Pandora to get rid of the humans once and for all.

Goddamn did they strike gold by scooping up Zoe Saldana when they did. Her acting in this series is SO good. Everyone else is fine but she's out here acting like it's the last thing she'll ever do. The screams of pain over her son and then composing herself so she can save her daughters? So good. All I can think is that Grace's avatar was connected to Eywa when they were trying to do the transfer. It's not hard to believe that Eywa could have fertilized an embryo at that time. Spider saving Quaritch has me thinking dear old dad is going to be getting the mother of all redemption arks before this is over. I just hope Neytiri doesn't alienate Spider...the scene where he is legitimately scared of her and when she cuts him has me fearing he'll end up flipping sides.

There’s a lot of cynicism on internet. I don’t understand why a certain group of self-proclaimed movie geeks seem to hate Avatars and wishing them to fail. This is just so petty and miserable. They will complain for hours how Avatar movies are unoriginal and than go and watch the same superhero journey redone for the twentieth time without seeing the irony. The movie also give such a beautiful message about family and in the first movie I wasn't really interested by Ewa but this Kiri's storyline in this chapter makes me want so bad to see the next movies. When you like James Cameron it is no wonder you like this one - it is a combination of his most succesful movies in one movie. Avatar I, Titanic, Aliens, Terminator 2 => the scenery and the backstory of Avatar I; the water scenario and the sinking ship scenes from Titanic; the walking robots, the similar space ships and aircrafts and the kids knowing to survive better than the adults like in "Aliens"; the villain returns even you stopped him him and the unsolved kind of paradox father figure like in Terminator 2. You combine all of that and you get => "The way of ... Cameron". You could even add the returning of Sigourney Weaver and her special child in Aliens (even though the Alien-Films with that kind of story-line are from David Fincher and Jeunet) and the strong almost magical girl with the mysterious back stroy like in Alita. Okay connect this film to the diving scenes from "Sanctum" and the similarities from the creatures in "Piranha II" may be a little far fetched ...

It reflects nicely against Jake and Neytiri who are still obviously going through struggles despite loving each other, due to the cultural differences they were raised in

One thing I've not seen mentioned by many/any is how when Tonowari tells Ronal she should stay home and she says "I ride" there's no pushback or questioning from Tonowari. Very commonly in unbalanced relationships even in supposedly balanced hollywood relationships the man would insist or reluctantly allow her to come along, but here, he simply offers his suggestion and lets Ronal make her own decision with full acceptance.

This movie was a near perfect sequel. It improved it's emotional beats, visual overload, making us care about the characters, expanding on the world, and more. The sequel is definitely better, imo, and I believe the next movies are already mostly filmed.. There is a lot of events that conspired during that final battle that, I too, am looking forward to seeing what happens. Great reaction and looking forward to more!

Being introduced to the Metkayina was one of my favorite parts of the movie for me. I remember years ago watching a video how people hunt whales, so watching them hunt the tulkun was especially upsetting while knowing these are real world techniques. I really loved Lo’ak and Payakans relationship! It gave me goosebumps when Payakan breached the water to save him, and in the end he finally took out the hunters. I was so sad that Neteyam died, I think he was my favorite character.

Hey Natalie…Thanks so much for your reaction to Avatar: The Way Of Water! You really expressed so much emotion throughout and you also had some funny moments as well! (My favorite funny moment was…I really should have gotten tissues when I went up to pee!) Also I feel the same way about the animals in this movie…especially the Tulkun (I thought that part was so sad as well…) But my favorite characters were definitely Lo’ak (because of his friendship with Payakan) and I also really liked Ronal (Kate Winslet’s an amazing actress and I thought it was so epic that she went into battle…despite being pregnant-actually I was honestly really more worried that she was going to die…and I also got emotional when Neteyam died…But I can’t wait for Avatar 3 in 2024! I really like the both movies to be honest with you but I like the second movie because of the themes of family but I also like the first one because its about discovering yourself! 💙💧💦🐉🐋

Avatar 2 > Avatar! Not by a lot but they added almost everything we loved about the first film, into the second film, but with a twist. This was a highly immersive and visually stunning movie in 3D, nothing out today comes close. See it in theaters if you can, it's better the second time anyways!

The cool bit about the concept of the Avatar is being fully fleshed out in all of these movies. In mythology "Gods' would take Avatars to blend in amongst us humans. The first movie layed out that a person's soul/essence/neural patterns could be placed into an alien body. When Grace died at the end of the first movie we thought it just didn't work for her. It turns out Aywa did something different with her creating it's own Avatar in the form of Kiri. So yeah, Kirti doesn't have a Father; she is the living incarnation of Aywa. I think the Spider/Colonel situation is going to become a necessary component to an eventual Peace and Understanding between Humans and the Navi. The Colonel will still be a bad guy but because of Spider he will learn to understand and maybe even empathize with the Navi.
@fightingfaerie

That’s what I’ve been saying. The first movie was called Avatar because they controlled remote piloted avatars. But Jake is no longer an avatar, he’s full Navi. So where does Avatar come in (besides hanging onto the franchise’s title)? Avatar in the classic religious sense. Kiri is Eywa’s Avatar.

Hi, I'm a MoCap performer and gotta say they've created seriously stylish fight and movement choreography for this. I also wanted to share a painful story of mine about the new Resident Evil Remakes. In late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the facial likeness role of Leon for the RE 2 Remake. I failed to mention I also have a voice acting background, in the end I lost the part... Now, many years later, when I see how successful those remakes are I can't forgive myself for wasting such a chance. In this business one audition can change your entire life.

In point of fact, How to Train Your Dragon *is* based on a book series...but it takes next to nothing from those books besides character names, the basic viking setting, and the general idea that Hiccup starts out as a bit of a dweeb who turns out to get along exceptionally well with dragons. For example, the Toothless from the books is of the most common dragon species, is about the size of a cat, and is quite literally toothless.

The end of the scene reminded me a little bit of the movie about pearl harbor. After the event occurred the boats began to sink, and when they sink they slowly flip upside down. Once the top of the boat enters the water, it starts filling up the inside of the boat which creates a suction. This suction took the lives of many soldiers because they were unable to swim fast enough to get away and got dragged under water. Brings me to tears everytime I think about it. RIP to those veterans.

I‘ve been waiting for Natalie to see this and upload an reaction! I totally loved this movie. Specially the scene of the Sully‘s arrival at the village. It’s the first time, where we see their shade of blue skin doesn’t blend in with its surroundings anymore, where it stands out and creates a contrast. It just shows the level of detail that went into these movies, coming straight from James Cameron himself.

Went and saw it in 3D at an IMAX theater with the higher frame-rate. One of the best visual experiences I have ever seen. It's remarkable how far ahead this technology is compared to other movies. The actors actually trained to learn to hold their breath for 5-7 mins for shots, because faking movement in water doesn't work.

If no one has figured this out... would you like to know why Kiri is so in tune with Pandora? It's because her FATHER... or rather her contributing parent is Eywa! Yes... Kiri is the product of an immaculate conception. She is Avatar's own Jesus Christ. If you're also wondering why Kiri had that seizure while connected to the Spirit Tree... it's because she wasn't ready... she wasn't strong enough yet to learn the truth... to process the reality of her parentage. The seizure was Eywa's way of scaring Kiri off of this search for information for the time being. I dare ANYONE to try and tell me that these theories don't make sense... 😳🤪😜

I definately feel like Quaritch will end up being a goodguy, or an antihero. He's not the same gung ho marine from the first one. He's more sypathetic, willing to learn. I feel as though he will ultimately have a very uneasy alliance with the Sullys. And I feel like he will sacrifice himself at a crucial moment. Spyder saving his dad will end up being an event that will end up saving the Sullys in some way down the line.

i was waiting on this reaction!! i always have fun watching with you!! honestly, i think most people do think that this movie is better than the first. if only because it focuses on a lot more aspects than a love story and it expands the world of pandora so much more. i also think they did a really good job setting up the new leads of the story in lo’ak, kiri and spider. it was actually already confirmed that lo’ak is gonna be the narrator of the upcoming third film! and i really really agree with you about spider. spider hate is so crazy to me especially about his decision at the end which i totally saw as a way to show how he’s better than his father. and ofc i have to mention neteyam. i cried like a baby. i understand what james cameron was going for but it doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt like a bitch. still haven’t recovered from his death honestly.

I love how they use Cow and Calf for an alien species of animals, which is actually the same thing earthling cows do. When a mother cow has their calf removed they'll fight for it, they protect their babies. I've sadly seen it in person. Luckily nowadays I'm vegan so I'm not contributing to that. Sorry if I spelled anything wrong but I'm from Argentina, South America.
