Tbh, from the start of this race there was a lot of squirrelly riding going on… I’m surprised this didn’t happen earlier… glad you’re ok Claudio… 🙌🏽

It's so fun watching you discover the keys to racing. You are a completely transformed rider this year (and unrecognizable compared to 2+ seasons ago). Next year is gonna be amazing for you (but first, have a blast at Gateway Cup).

Glad you only got a few bruises and the bike was undamaged. I carefully watched the guy who went down first and couldn't find any bad pavement, debris, or getting his front wheel clipped. Not sure what put him down. The 1k marker is where everyone suddenly accelerates and stuff happens. That is one time having a little extra space can be good even if it means eating a some wind. Good racing Claudio!!

Glad you're ok man! You really are so much more confident in your racing skills since you first started - it's cool to watch your improvements. Also, rim brake mafia represent! So many rim brake bikes in this race, and cool vintage Trek Postal frame out there mixing it up.

Glad you are okay. You are doing fantastic. I love how you've learned to take advantage of the gaps and smoothly move yourself forward by just adding a little more power.

I used to crash like this but when I broke my clavicle (5 screws) and my 2 ribs I decided to quit crit racing. Still active though doing fondos, chain gangs and hill challenges. There's no way to avoid crashes but wish you safe ride 🙏

I don't think "no fear" is the right way to think about it. The guys who win field sprints know the risks, BUT they also have the skills to be there. The true NO FEAR® bros don't last too long.

Looks to me like the guy two in front (the one with the badly torn jersey yelling f*** afterwards) crashed into his teammate who was in front of him. Touched tires maybe, but took out his teammate too.

a few second before the fall there's a guy in front of the one who fell who is creeping right to left and is plausibly just level with the wheel of the guy who fell. It look like he just came across him, maybe made worse by going right to left himself in a definite overlapping path with the guy directly in front of the cam who ran into the guy who fell. But yeah, impossible to tell for sure, but that's my guess, the person in front crossed his wheel and he couldn't escape left or he'd cross someone else's.

Funny how the guy walking around pissed and dropping all the f-bombs is the guy that caused the pile up. And from the looks of it was responsible for the crash (nobody around him or in front of him).
@max_coast
@max_coast Жыл бұрын
there may have been someone in front of him. A few seconds before there's someone going right to left and who kinda of lines up perfectly and remains obstructed for view. That dude is still there, but the stacking prevents us from seeing what happens, if that guy is involved, etc. As the fall reveals people that guy IS directly in front of the falling guy soooo... plausible crossed his front wheel? Noway to be definite from this footage, but that's usually how it goes right?
@danielweiss7330
@danielweiss7330 Жыл бұрын
no, he didn't cause the pile up. very hard to tell in the video, but if you look at 14:32 you will see there is a rider slightly ahead and to the right in the peloton. as things sped up, he tried to close a gap but died, and in his exhaustion he just sort of blindly swept to the left taking out Andrew (f-bomb guy) and everyone else. I was to that rider's right and saw it out of the corner of my eye. when your heart rate is peaked and someone crashes into you, there's a tendency to swear, grandma.

Looked like a wheel clip or forward too much on the front wheel and caused the wheel to slide out...I have seen when people stand up on their bikes and don't know to keep even weight front and rear....
