1. It's NOT a CVT, it's a single speed transaxle that only engages the engine to the front wheels at specific rpms and drive conditions - the revving of the engine is simply it powering the generator to give extra current to the drive motors. 2. It's NOT 200Nm of ICE added to 250 of EV drive it's the combined output of the electric drive units driven to full capacity with both the battery and ICE generator supplying maximum current. At low speeds the ICE is never driving the wheels directly.

Single gear, cvt, so what’s the big deal. Everyone knows it’s not a torque converter 6 speed or dct 8 speed. So when people say cvt they know what the reviewer basically means.

Review is not accurate or misleading. The gear is not CVT and the 2023 exceed tourer model comes with mi pilot which provides ability of lane keeping by auto steering, traffic jam assist start stop, and few others..

Are you sure this is a 2023 model? It seems to be missing the sequential indicators, the MI-PILOT buttons on the steering wheel and the steering wheel heater button on the climate control panel.

Jacob, great review. Love this car but have to say I am a bit of a Mitsubishi nut. I have 3 CJ lancers currently and a collection of close to 2000 scale models. I can honestly say over the years of owning my 28 Mitsubishi's in total I have never had a fault with 1. I have been knocked by friends and family about my Mitsubishi but strangely enough many end up owning Mitsubishi cars also. Keep up the great work.

G'day Stephan & Jacob It's not unusual but great to see a fellow Mitsubishi owner, I've driven many other brands but all my cars have been Mitsubishi's since I bought my first car in 1987, I love and respect the brand and I've stuck with Mitsubishi through the good times and tough times, I currently drive a 2017 pearl white GSR Lancer that I've slightly customised, all the best to you mate and wishing you continued safe and happy motoring.

It's NOT a CVT, although for economy it will keep the engine in the high revs where it is most powerful similar to a CVT. It's called a single speed transxacle and essentially it is like a direct gear.

is it worth it to upgrade from Exceed tourer petrol to Exceed tourer PHEV? I wish they would have done something about 3 row seating in PHEV, may be a small adjustment so 3rd row seating could be useful.

Correction for this video, it doesn't have a CVT, it's a single speed transaxle, which means no bands, just spinning gears, no changing, etc, etc.

It doesn't have a CVT. It is a single speed direct drive. Electric motors driving the wheels are through a 1-speed reduction. The engine engages the front wheels via hydraulic clutch.

Hay Jacob, it was nice meeting you today in Balaclava. I was test driving exactly the same model few day ago and was also impressed with the ride. I don’t know if I should buy it instead of Lexus NX350h F sport…. What would be your choice?

Hey Mark, nice to meet you too! This does have great ride quality and an awesome hybrid powertrain but if it’s amenities and luxury you are after this doesn’t compare to the NX350h (the sound system in the Lexus is worlds apart) 👍 - Jacob

Yes, I think you are right, will still be looking for other while waiting for NX, Have you driven 2023 Mazda cx5 turbo? It goes very well and top spec has this luxury feels but no hybrid….

G'day it's Steven here Enjoyed your review and I'd love to buy an Outlander PHEV, however its just too big for me and the child only third row seats wouldn't be of any use to me, my children are adults and when the grandkids come along I'd orefer to have them in the middle row. 0-100klm is 7.77 seconds is brilliant and the handling is pretty good considering this is an SUV, I cant wait to see the Ralliart version of Outlander which is at least 12 months away, itll be a road warrior beast thing that'll be influenced by the legendary Lancer Evo, and I hesitate to say itll probably retail over $85k. Go Mitsubishi!

How strange. We have this vehicle in white and it does indeed have sequential indicators. How weird this one doesn't? This one also doesn't have mipilot self steering, it must be the pre update vehicle.

Don't talk shit. It does not have a CVT. It has one electric motor on each axle, and a SINGLE ratio gear connection to the front axle, at highway speeds. I thought you knew what you were talking about until you started talking about the drive train.

The whole third row thing in cars is a joke that needs to stop. If I still had kids to stack into a car I’d be choosing a different type of vehicle because jamming anybody into a third row is ridiculous and dangerous. Vehicles like Jeep Grand Chorokee are now offering their top line vehicles without the stupid third row so if Jeep can do it, others need to take note. We don’t all have a football team of midgets to transport and I really don’t know anybody that does.

yes in not the only one who can t stand 3rd rows , I get car sick in the 3rd row just thinking about it and freeway clover leafs ,no OS handles, is there airbags ?? , no door to open , window to roll down ,no way to escape you are trapped , and you are inches or mm to the back bumper in a rear end crash and death

What is the bloody point of having the 7 seaters for this outlander when the 3rd role seat doesnt fit anyone unless they dont have leg! And is wasting spaces! I wanted 5 seaters outlander Exceed! Unfortunately they only have 5 seaters base model and Aspire. And Exceed and up only 7 seaters! I want the 3rd role seats out and refund! I dont want it!

Not a CVT, it's a Single Speed TransAxle GKN Multi Mode E-Transmission.

There is no CVT. There is no transmission at all. The electric motors drive the wheels in most cases, except at highway cruises speed, where the motor is directly connected to the axel.

At 17:20... you said "the petrol engine is used to charge the electric motor". Firstly, you charge batteries, you can't "charge" a motor. Secondly, it has TWO electric motors. Also, why can you only talk about the regen braking, when it's in EV mode?
