Hong Lu and Heathcliff are foils, because one is rich, naive, and stupid, and the other is poor, cynical, and stupid. By the same metrics, Meursault is Ishma's foil. The sailor will nag about everything that gets on her nerves, to the point that it just becomes her default personality. Meursault however has no opinions on anything, until he gets _really_ pissed off, at which point he becomes a sight to remember.

Honestly, I love how this event helps to further deepen our understanding of the Sinners, and gives even some of the less talkative ones (Like Mersault and Yi Sang) some genuine space to showcase what makes them tick. Others (like Sinclair and Don) continue to show growth from previous events from the previous chapters. Sinclair is showing more agency and ability to not only snap back when people are being rude to him, but to remove himself from a situation that others are forcing on him. Don is still Don, but thanks to her lashing by Vergilius, is showing some more acknowledgement of when she might be going too far, showcasing that she's considering the consequences of her actions more. Hell, even Heath gets some nice moments, continuing to soften up towards others, and seeing his excitement at his talents being validated was both really cute, and continues to push him closer to the group, rather than looking to get into a fight at every corner. I love Mersault here because it really does reframe his "Blank personality" archetype as really just one that's completely insular. Mersault has opinions, quite detailed ones even, but he doesn't see fit to explain because nobody asked and he doesn't care to come forward to represent himself. It definitely gives the impression that the closer you get to the man, the more that you're actually going to get more than single-word responses from him. As for Yi Sang, his little aside about the flower on the potato was quite cute and wholesome, emphasizing that he sees meaning and beauty even in things that others don't. That said, his dedication to this ideal means that he actively ignores flaws that he shouldn't, specifically in pursuit of the imperfect ideal. Hilariously, I think the only Sinner I'm still not really here for at the moment is Ryoshu, who is still by far the most abrasive member of the cast. Though having Sinclair out here translating for her was a cute touch, and I'd kind of like it if the two got closer, as he continues to attempt to become more self-actualized like her, and maybe she even begins to soften up a bit taking him under her wing, without losing her edge of course. It would also be interesting having Ryoshu as a contrasting figure to Rodya, who by comparison is a much more loving and coddling mother-figure to him.

Makes sense. Ryoshu's literature inspiration was a bit distant from his daughter, but still spoiled her rotten. And while her death by fire provided the character the inspiration for his greatest piece of art, considering Limbus' Ryoshu's art is violence and bloodshed, she might've had particularly violent response in this version of the story Not to mention that it was both Sinclair and Ryoshu that called out Outis when she accidentally insulted the owner for naming his shop after his mother. Sinclair makes sense, he's probably the only Sinner with good memories surrounding their mother, but Ryoshu also stepping in makes me think that Ryoshu might actually been a mother at some point in time.

Meursault's rapping on how horrid the food was is one of the best moment I witnessed in PJM verse. I can't believe Yi Sang is so damn detached from reality that he actually likes spoiled milk and budding potatoes. The sound he makes when he was told to get rid of it is so damn hilarious. The fact that Don's VA get to play a parody of a knight in shining armor, and the ACTUAL knight in shining armor is very very funny. Man, chocolate+orange is a great combination, but definitely NOT for this scenario. Don were actually kinda closer to something that might actually work than people gives credit tho. Duck(or in this case, chicken) breast with orange sauce is such a great dish if you can pull it off. In fact, fried chicken with savory orange sauce also works really well. Heathcliff being good at peeling potato is so cute and the fact that Outis didn't say anything about Ryoshu is so funny to me.

I should mention this: Hand torn chicken can also be found in china, it's actually really really good. Yi Sang just doesn't know how to cook. It's usually translated as Shredded chicken, and yes, it is somewhat similar to pulled chicken, but with much larger pieces.
