We as kayakers need to be the ambassadors of the sport like you and many many others are. Encounters like what you and G had are becoming less but unfortunately they do still happen. Me personally I haven't had a negative encounter in over 2 years now. The respect for the kayak community is definitely growing. Keep doing what your doing. Congratulations on the strong finish.

Great tournament for you both. I reward you for keeping your even tempered self. We have issues here in our local Florida lakes with skiers and jet skiers. A ski boat became by us sunday so close we almost fell out of the boat because of the large wake. I just remember that you can't fix stupid!

I am a cyclist as well as a kayak fisherman. As a cyclist I have had things throw out windows of vehicles at me, profanities yelled at me, diesel trucks intentionally revving the engine to create exhaust, and the worst of all is intentionally passing very close to me while out on the road. There seems to be a sense of ownership of the road or lake by some people because their vehicle or vessel is larger. Assholes are everywhere in every form. Kayakers and Cyclists have a similar cross to bear. Sorry you had to go through that.

There were two other little club tournaments out of Blacks Saturday and Sunday too, we had like 15 boats in our club , not sure about the other Club. We didn’t do as well as you did, but we had the same finish, lol. Literally both caught fish right at the last minute . So how does that work? You measure, weigh and take a picture that is time stamped? Yes, many boaters are A-Holes!!! Even to other boaters like myself. I always respect Kayakers!🙂

I'm sorry that happened to you. It feels awful to have a confrontation like that, especially when you're trying to be open to talking it out. I apologized once (even though I did nothing wrong) just to calm things down. Guy would not let it go. Finally, left but then came right back to keep it going. I was with another WAM member after dark with no one else around. I had to stand my ground and demand he leave. It was a scary situation. But kindness usually wins out and is the best defense.

At least 3 times last year I have had John boat, pontoon boat and bank fisherman have utter lack of respect or thought into there actions. As my own ambassador I let them know of there mistake. In my experience people fishing from kayaks have common sense, can’t same the same about non fishing kayaks…. Congrats on the fish, they were clean looking fish.. 20:18

But then, I almost clicked off the video and seen the rest and I was furious myself. That guy is just an *****************. Apparently he believes that y’all cost him something and that just isn’t right. I seen g come around the back of his boat I honestly thought g was going to climb into dudes boat.
