This was interesting! I think you should add books you have unhauled because you have probably read most of them.

Agreed. They count towards your "Read" pile as well as your country list. Same with online books. You count add a separate column to distinguish owned, unhauled and virtual.

I just use Goodreads to keep track of all my books. I have two separate shelfs for the books I physically own, a 'read books I own' tag (currently 97 books I believe) and a physical tbr shelf (currently 16 books plus one I haven't added yet because it isn't on Goodreads) I've thought about doing a whole spreadsheet before, just for the aesthetic but I would pretty much just add everything I can already see on Goodreads. Plus since my collection is relatively small I pretty much know exactly what books I have, where they are and how I felt about them so cataloguing the whole thing doesn't seem really necessary at the moment. I do love to see videos like this though, where people really interact with their collection, especially if it's a big one like yours because truthfully I dream of having a collection like that one day so💭

This is such an interesting idea, would definitely try doing this as well! I am from India and among other books and authors, I would like to recommend to you the works of Ruskin Bond. I fell into love with reading through his works as well as authors like enid blyton when I was little. His writing was very simple and beautiful for me to understand as someone whose first language isn't English. I think as someone who likes reading children's and middle grade literature, you might like him. So sorry for this long comment but I hope you're having a great day!

What a fun video! Where to start a reply? I keep books in Goodreads, but also a spreadsheet, and maintain both for different reasons. I do not use goodreads for my unread books or my virtual TBR. Like you, I keep a list of different editions in my spreadsheet; my cell comments list hardcover vs paperback and often publisher or publication year (like first editions). Countries lists: several different ways to do it: the country of the author, or the country/countries settings where the books take place. Some authors may be born in a certain country, spent formative years raised in another, spent more time in another country, yet currently live or died in another. Some authors have researched other cultures, and made great contributions to understanding those cultures, yet never have visited. If you are listing books by their setting, you have some books where the person moves about (like from France to Russia), have countries that really do not exist anymore (ie: Transylvania, or Bohemia) or have fictional places (like middle earth, outer space). Either way to do it will yield interesting results. I wish I had kept track of countries for an Around-the-World sort of listing. (I may have to spend days updating my spreadsheet). Since I have not kept track of countries in my spreadsheet, it is hard for me to make recommendations. I notice India missing in your list, perhaps others could recommend several books. Also, I do not see South Africa: JM Coetzee is a good author, although perhaps the depth and social commentary is not your typical style). Keeping track of genre is tough. If you look at GoodReads, you will find dozens of genres apply to a single book. For example, do you classify _In Cold Blood_ as non-fiction or true crime or mystery? _War and Peace_ is a classic, but it is also part history, part philosophical and part novel. I find a single genre difficult to categorize for many books. Your 'special editions' kinda sounds like reference books.

While I did not look up every author (many were assumed to be UK or USA in origin), I did search a variety. I was surprised to find quite a few that were British or French authors, but born in imperial territories (eg. Albert Camus born in French Algiers now Algeria). I thought George Orwell (1984 and Animal Farm) was British, but I find that he was born in India. Same with Rudyard Kipling (although I suspected he was British India given his subject matter). Likewise, I was surprised by quite a number of authors I thought to be African or Indian given the subject matter of their books, but turned out to be from Canadian, UK or USA. Isabel Allende is considered to be a Chilean writer, but was born in Peru, etc. If we were to use the countries, as identified at the time of their birth, I would have more... such as Bohemia, and Prussia, and Ottoman Empire. (eg. Sophocles would have been from Attica, not Greece). While I have read significantly more books than you, I have the exactly the same diversification of countries - 46. Our lists differ by 15 countries! I have none from Mexico (but lots from USA which I thought were Mexican), and I am quite thin from Asia (especially the smaller SE Asia countries), South America, Africa and the Middle East and even eastern Europe. And how am I missing Poland? Afghanistan Algeria Australia Austria Brazil Canada China Colombia Cuba Cyprus Czech Republic Denmark, Dominica (which is not the same as...), Dominican Republic Egypt France Germany Greece Haiti Hungary India Iran Ireland Israel Italy Japan Liberia Mesopotamia (Epic of Gilgamesh - probably Iraq) New Zealand Nigeria Norway Peru Philippines Portugal Romania Russia Saudia Arabia South Africa Spain Sweden Switzerland Syria Ukraine UK (Britain England Scotland Wales) USA Zimbabwe An eye-opener. I guess I need to change my reading strategy.

I love seeing your stats! I'm only just starting to build my collection (before last year, due to eye problems, I needed to read e-books, but now I've had surgeries that help me read paper which I love so much more.) So far I'm only collecting pretty editions of the classics I want to read, seeing them just makes me so happy. But I have plans for another bookshelf, and then I might just bankrupt myself, ha. (I didn't see Iran on your country list...Have you read The Stationery Shop? Or Persepolis? I really liked both; they might be good if you want to add a country.)
