Thank you! I think a lot of people dont realize that once your line is touching the barnacles on a dock you cant put any more pressure on the line. You just have to open the bale and hope the circle hook is doing its job by holding the fish. Unfortunately, this happens a lot because big fish are always within a couple feet of the dock.

Yep I lost many big snook before I learned. They fight in proportion to how hard you pull. If you open the bail they often just swim slowly away giving you time to untangle the line from around the pilings. The lock down and muscle them out method is a guaranteed break off. If you don’t turn them in the first few seconds of the fight you just need to let up and become wise to the long, slow approach.
