honestly no 2nd chances. I've played the merciful route of giving warnings but the thing about people in general is if they know something is wrong and do it anyways (because remember this guy would of needed to download something to do this well known cheat. He didnt just stumble upon a glitch.) Regardless of how sorry they seem, they will just do it again but just more carefully. And even if you do give a warning dont let them keep ANYTHING they minded because if you let them keep it they still benefitted from it. Even if some of it was legit you gotta punish them somehow if they are gonna learn. Its one thing to not know better. its another to know and do it anyways.

Oh this kid, seen him on the server a lot asking if a lot of stuff is allowed or not and being told no. Seems like they've stopped doing stuff when they get an answer if stuff is allowed or not so far? I'd for sure put a note on him about being an X-Ray user and if repeated or other hacks again then to do a ban of sorts. Either a temp ban for a warning or just ban straight up. I'm sure they will now be on edge to hopefully not do it ever again though, they seem nice when I've seen them ask questions after all.

They’re 100% xraying, every server I’ve ever played I xrayed on. They were not being subtle AT ALL so he knew to just turn it off till they stopped. Also I’m 99% sure the xray mod he’s using only shows diamonds that appear when he turns it on (anything else placed won’t appear till he turns it off and back on)

Are there any xray mods out there that map out an area ahead of time and saves diamond block info in a buffer? I know there is a visible ores texture pack that helps a player see ores on the surface more easily, but that would not affect the player's ability to see ores beneath the surface. His mod seems to make him blind to everything except for natural stuff. It might be fun to put a wall of diamonds in his path and see if he runs into it. I think that when he found that wall in his way he turned his mod off and started going for visible stuff again.

Honestly, instead of diamonds, you could have tried deep slate....though there's a 60% chance he was hacking but knew he was being messed with if diamonds suddenly appear in places where rock and gravel was. Also, please consider a 'Grinch' challenge for your smp, in which your friends must decide to save either a lot of mod presents or one of them getting a big cash prize awhile the others lose the presents.

Seed reversing has been well understood for a while now in technical communities, even from screenshots and videos, but yeah, this guy seems like he has one that only spots exposed diamonds. You can also reverse diamond locations from worldgen of various things, including lapis and clay generation.

In the old versions of minecraft, I understood the spawn pattern and could find them without hacking. It looked like I had x-ray because I would intuitively break the blocks covering diamonds just because I understood the probability of it being there.
