This video caught my eye because someone broke into my van when I WAS IN IT! Middle of the night. Got the door open, saw me yelled and ran before I could see his face! Now I sleep with windows up, doors locked and I duct tape the locks as well!!! I've gotten over the fear now but I'm definitely wiser! 😅❤🎉

Glad you intervened and stopped any damage or loss to your home ! Rv and van dwellers have to become aware that with all the you tube videos out on the internet , there information and equipment is being advertised constantly , for security maybe install small inconspicuous cameras in your van so if you are away from it you are able to identify potential crimes ! Install alarms so if the doors or windows are opened it alarms you , overnight in safe places or with folks you know and can trust !! Realize with all the videos you have lost and given up your stealth advantages , 👀👀🤷‍♂️be safe out there 💪👍👨‍🌾👨‍🌾

I just found your channel. BRIAN, who is the creator of Adventure Van Man, does a lot of wood carving and makes Utensils. I need to find a hobby to do so when I travel it doesn't take up a lot of space. You have a pretty kitty. It would have shaken me to see someone rattling my door knob trying to break in. For B & E (breaking & entering). Daytime (outside) hours, always carry an AIRHORN. Nightime (outside) hours, always carry an AIRHORN and a top notch TATICAL FLASHLIGHT. B&E people do not LIKE NOISE or BRIGHT LIGHTS. When going to sleep at night, you might want to put a SIGN in the driver's window saying: I'VE GOT A BAZOOKA or similar.

I have learned to heed the single brick, so I don’t have to have the whole brick wall fall on me before I learn. Take heed and do some beefing up of your security. Your whole world is in there, but the Universe could be trying to protect your safety. I’m not saying be afraid. I’m saying be proactive.

You need a dog even if it is a smaller breed that will bark as an early warning that someone is approaching you or your van. Not sure if you carry pepper spray or mace, but if it is illegal in California wasp spray can also be very effective. Yes, people are weird and especially with all the drug use and immense numbers of illegal immigrants coming into our country. You are very vulnerable and need to have great situational awareness so that you can minimize your risk and not place yourself in dangerous situations or environments. Your wood working tools hatchet, saw & gouge can serve as defensive weapons, but they could also be used against you. Keep them out of sight when not being used, but where you can easily access them. I have a daughter and have told her some of these same things thru the years. I wish you safe travels, just keep your head on a swivel and get a dog.

Having an outdoor camera you can put on top of your vehicle at night and a light would deter thieves. Plus a nice dog with a big bark. I have read a barking dog is the biggest robbery deterrent. God bless!

The average police response time is between 10-18 minutes for non emergent calls or priority 1 calls. Telling a security officer so they can be aware and watch for the person while law enforcement is called is a proper response. I'm sure if you were freaked out and getting away from somewhere you would just want to quickly get away rather than wait there for the officers.
