I Challenge EA To Fix These 8 Bugs In The Sims 4

EA if you fix these (and other bugs too!) the community will be so happy!

That's right. I'm going to go through 8 bugs that have been around in The Sims 4 for... like... a long time, and challenge EA to fix them in line with their recent statement that they're going to start taking bugs more seriously.
I think EA's new stance is awesome news, but I'd love to see them act on it and really start to repair a lot of the problems with the game. I am quietly optimistic.
I will be doing a follow up video to this one in a couple of months, where we'll see just how many of these 8 bugs have been fixed, and how many are still in the game. Fingers crossed!

3. Scroll down and click on Bug Reports
4. Log in to your EA account
5. Search for your bug and "Me Too" the post, OR if it doesn't exist click "New Topic" and provide details for the bug.

Every time a laundry list comes out, I read it and surprise myself that, yeah all the dumb things that I’ve developed workarounds for so long ago that it’s now just muscle memory when playing are actually bugs that should be fixed.

After the last update where they "fixed a lot of bugs", my Sims do not get promoted at the end of the work day when they've got Excellent performance and the gold check.

Those promotion normally involve some promotion task/goal. Reaching a given level in a skill or two is the most common. Some careers may have other goals, like have X followers or possess/create object Y, have Z friends. Until all the tasks/goals are met, you can't get the promotion. Those goals or tasks are listed just under the performance bar, then, a grey line, then the daily tasks. When completed, they become shaded in gold with a gold medal.

Yeah, it's going to take a while to fix. Programming is complicated, especially programming something as difficult as The Sims. I promise you, the people working on it for 50+ hours a week also wish they could just wave a magic wand and fix it, but that's not how reality works. This is an enormous and deeply complex project, and they're doing it for the worst fanbase I've ever met. I honestly don't know why anyone wants to work on this game, all the fans ever do is complain. We just saw a turn around from "FIX THE GAME! WHY ARE YOU SO MONEY HUNGRY!?" to "WHY ARE YOU FORCING PATCHES ON US? WHY ARE YOU GIVING US FREE LOG IN GIFTS!?" They can't win. That would be enough to make me quit, and based on your lack of patience, I don't think you'd put up with it either. So maybe, I don't know, have an ounce of gratitude, a little bit of patience, and a seat.

​@@haileybalmer9722i understand but we paid for this game. Although it's free now, but many of us paid and paid so much for DLCs. A product should be complete and customers have the right to complain if there's something wrong with the product they paid. That said, I'm happy with the login rewards (although not the login requirements, not all people can play everyday). Okay with updates too. I guess the ones who are not happy is people who are using many mods.

I honestly thought that I’d done something wrong with cottage living. I put my hen in and she won. Fair ended and she disappeared. I couldn’t find her anywhere. She was the perfect hen.

The main bug I absolutely cannot stand is the harvestables resetting and reverting to dirt piles. If your plant/tree spawns fruit you have to remove it before 7:00am; if you don't, the plant reverts to a dirt pile and you have to start over. Also if you travel off of your lot and come back sometimes they reset to dirt. MC Command Center has a work around for this (shift-click and change the growth stage back to blooming) but, for a game that has 2 or 3 packs that have a focus on growing stuff (seasons, cottage living, horses) it's infuriating that this has not been fixed yet. I had a pretty large farm with about 50 harvestable plants and trees. Even though I'd have my sims ready to harvest at 5am (when the fruit spawns) because my farm was so large, they wouldn't be able to collect everything before 7am and I'd lose anywhere from one-third to a half of my farm. Eventually I just gave up playing... EA has the right idea with this dedicated bugs team; however, it shouldn't have taken as long as it's taken for this to be a thing. There have been bugs and issues for years and years so this should have happened much sooner. EA has a quantity over quality mindset because that equals money so their focus was on releasing more and more content without bothering to take the time to ensure what they already released is working properly. Kudos to them for taking this step but the jury is out on whether this will make a difference. If the same bugs we've been b*tching about for years aren't addressed, this will have been another failure on their part. I'm going to try to be optimistic but, because this is EA, my expectations are very low.

In a way that does make sense, because some crops you do have to replant each season (varies by plant) so onions and tomatoes etc actually do revery back to dirt piles in real life, except gardeners (like me) actually have to replant them for real. I didn't actually realize it was a bug until someone told me to be honest. I guess the fact that I am a gardener makes it annoy me less because I do have to replant stuff.

Do you play on console or PC? If you play on PC (& you use mods), LittleMsSam has a mod that has fixed this issue for me (you’ll have to go down her mod list, I don’t remember the name). If you play on console, I’m so sorry.

On the top notch toddler/happy toddler note… I aged up an infant to a toddler and she had all of the milestones (except pee on caregiver) and she got the unhappy infant trait. She was also the center of attention for her family so idk how that happened.

Any need NOT green at the moment of aging up ? Not sure, but it seems that all needs MUST be above 75% and at least 1 at, or almost at, 100% when aging up. I did ONCE get an happy infant trait.

As far as I know milestones play 0 role in that and it's all about the infants moods

The PLAAAANTS. Weeds that don't disappear, high quality plants turn into dirt, crystals float in the air and are unable to harvest. Everything that includes infants. Sims just standing there, not moving for hours and hours

Thank you for tracking this. As for the spellcasters can't get certain wands, that has been true since the pack came out. I've always had to go into debug to get my favorite wands.

I thought the experimental pictures bugged because everything else on that particular lot seems to be bugged (and I’m slowly replacing them) or because most of the pictures I had on walls before Crystal Creations turned black or into question marks. But I guess it was a different bug altogether.

The Finchwick fair doesn't only steal animals - they stole the Golden Honey Milk that my sim JUST bought. I was so angry.

Yes I am with you, Petey. The game has become unplayable, especially on console, All platforms are not working properly. I'm with you on that.😢. I have even begun to complaining to Microsoft about their company Letting this game stay on the platform without trying to assist the consumer even though we have asked for help. I love Sims 4 have invested over 1000 US dollars, I just want the product to perform properly.😢 😢😫

Literally yes I play on console and every day I find something new that crashes my game currently the main ones are I physically cannot open household inventory if I do then it crashes and the same thing happens whenever I try to take my sims on dates

While each individual bug might not seem like a big deal, it all adds up. Keep in mind there are a *lot* more bugs than those 8 in the game. There are probably hundreds of big and small bugs and glitches, broken gameplay features etc. I'm doubtful they'll ever be able to fix most of them just due to the sheer number of bugs. Fixing a dozen or so bugs every 2-3 months is just scratching the surface.

I'm glad you are pointing these bugs out. There's a broken career too. Interior decorator. I hope enough people report it. I'm not bitter, this is an incredibly complex game. Lots of 1s and 0s. I just wish the interior decorator 1s and 0s were straightened out.

I have recently gone back to play one of my favorite careers, Detective. Boy, what a buggy mess it has become. I can't get promoted because when I have to arrest the suspect,she is a fellow police woman. I tried to get her to quite, as was suggested, she refused. This is my first case, and I am stuck 😢

My Wedding Stories: when you order a wedding cake at the little kiosk in Tartosa, it should appear in your inventory on your wedding day. (And ideally, not spoil so fast.) You're paying hundreds of Simoleons, just as for a real wedding cake. I've just been having Sims bake their own wedding cakes. There's no issue when they're just ordering cakes and whatnot from the kiosk to enjoy right then and there, or to take offsite with them, but when they order the wedding cake for a planned wedding event, that's where the issue is.

Why are Sims1, 2 & 3 review videos more honest than Sims4? People talk about lag, bugs, glitches, corruption etc - to this day and yet there are so many KZbinrs making Sims4 videos that AVOID talking about Sims4's MANY issues. Thank you for your honesty about Sims4. It's greatly appreciated. I literally can only play Sims 1,2,3 & Medieval - that's how broken Sims4 has been for me.

Nice list. The top notch toddler trait is the first one I look for in a new laundry list. I really hope it gets fixed. Nice to see it is number one on your list. I also hope EA can finally fix plants reverting to dirt piles. I was very sad to see my crystal tree revert back because it takes ages to grow. They tried a few times now but I hope the sims team finds the problem at last. As for the wands, I would really like to see NPC spellcasters use wands if they have a wand in their inventory. For the different colour of the wands, I use a magic shop that sells all possible wands, including the werewolf ones. That way I can choose what wand my sims use.

I just spent the last week prepping my dynasty family for Mt. Komorebi, built their houses, updated the park, and built 2 businesses for then to own; a vets and a shared house where each unit has its own bedroom and bathroom. But guess what? Even though i can buy the properties, it wont let me transfer funds to either of them, which means that I can't run them. Which means I've just wasted a week in the game, and I now feel like throwing the game out of the window.

One that's been bugging me lately (looked it up and it's been reported already) is having a vampire sim burning up in the sun while giving a term presentation for a university class instead of being indoors like with all other rabbit holes 😭 I've had to have my sim go with full vamp energy and she just barely makes it home without dying

Ps5 player here. Sims still teleport. If you're not at home and go to work or school, it sends them home saying they skipped it. Wands are definitely impossible to get. Can we get Sims to not sit down 15 times to greet someone? Doing a dinner party is impossible when everyone is getting up to shake hands with their brothers and sisters 🙄🙄

I was hopeful when they announced this that they'd be tackling the major game-breaking bugs like the orange exclamation point issue (a.k.a. complete irreversible save file corruption exascerbated by For Rent). Like, yeah, it would be nice if they fixed the little things too, but what I really want is an end to the stuff that can make the game literally unplayable. That's where they should be putting their effort.

Well, now I don't feel that bad about not having my Cottagecore Occults trio participate in Finchwick Fairs that often -- they only have the one cow, they can't afford to lose her! And that's interesting about the San Sequoia trails -- it's funny how they work if you visit that ONE SPECIFIC lot, but no others. Wonder how THAT coding mess worked out. . . We'll see if any of these do get fixed!

The bug which annoys me the most (excluding crashing or Sims not moving) is that ALL cross stich and ALL puzzles are in black and white on console. This seems like it would be easy to fix but never has been. These were both advertised as features too

Last night I was playing. My Sims went to a restaurant around 5 pm. Were seated, took their order. Still hadn't received their food by 5 am. The waiting for food moodlet stayed in their queue but people coming in after my Sims were being served and leaving. I mean, I just let them stick around because I was curious how long it would go on lol but I had to get them home and ready for work. They need to fix Dine Out SOOOOOOOOOOO BAD.

Oh forgot to add-- when you try to cancel the bring food action after they've been sitting there for 12 hrs, a pop-up comes up that says your waiter will be bringing your food shortly, are you sure you want to go? LOL

I tried "me too'ing" a bug a couple days ago, just to find out there's a problem with my log-in. I'm able to play the game, and purchase packs just fine, but for some reason I am not allowed to interact on EA Answers HQ. Good grief! I really should pursue this issue, but am a little nervous about it messing up something else... 🙄

I've had almost all of the sims in my family get both the top notch toddler trait and the happy infant trait. Not sure if mine is just a rare instance.

I also have 2 sims in my recent save file (within 2 weeks of this video) that got top notch. I believe you when you say you have the glitch and most likely nothing to do with cc nor mods. I for one never use cc nor mods just to ensure I have a standard game. It's weird how the glitch happens for some of us but not all, so we're all experiencing slightly different glitches. Having read through comments, this seems to be a thing. I'm no computer whiz, so I no idea why, but is it something to do with different servers delivering different glitches! Will the EA team ever get to the bottom of resolving these things. I honestly am baffled by the fact that they fix the bugs (small or large) only for it to come back after other fix updates within a few weeks and once new packs are released. I assume new code is affecting old code in some way! Again, I have no idea. These guys are paid rather a lot for their product to not bother getting this stuff under control.

The 2 most recent bugs i've discovered are: 1) that organising events are no longer happening or they happen a day or a few days later. At first i thought i had cecked the wrong time or day but having found the menu pretty straight forward after the 4th go of having no event start up at the expected date and time, i tried birthday, slumber and dinner, i realised i'd set it up correctly and the whole system is bugged. 2) i've really been wanting to revisit cottage living and play the country caretaker all the way through, since when it came out i was so new to the sims4 that i needed to get used to how everything worked as well as learn that pack, so i started a new save yesterday with my farmer sim rags to riches, after working hard to earn my simoleans i set up a chicken coup and was doing ever so well at befriending the occupants that had 2 hatchable eggs within a few in game hours. The eggs were put straight into the coup for incubating and no leaving the lot just in case any bugs may have reappeared still remain from release (as we all know by now that when EA says they fix stuff it gets fixed for about 5 seconds only to reappear a few weeks later) low and behold my sim goes to sleep with hatching at 1d 5hrs, only to wake up to 2 spoiled eggs. Put the coip in my inventory to see if that would fix and both my beloved hens and the rooster completely dissapeared (not in inventory, can't find them anywhere, just the sleeping z's coming from the hen house) it appears the hen house issue at the fair is just the tip of the iceberg as you say. Such a shame for what has got to be one of TS4's best ever packs! I'm currently trying to find out if there are any current work arounds for the cottage living glitches so i can enjoy my pc gaming experience, its been a while since i plated this pack i cant remember all the glitch workarounds! I don't believe EA will fix much tbh, because they've known about those bugs, how unplayable the game has become for some people AND they just keep selling new bugged packs, why do they do it? BECAUSE PEOPLE KEEPS BUYING THEIR PACKS, BUGGED OR NOT AND, why will they change their MO? I tried the walk when i first got the pack (about 2 months after the pack released) and couldn't get it to work, so I assumed it was all glitched in that pack, as well, let's face it, new pack comes out, main features are usually corrupt and unplayable! I haven't tried playing it since, but now I'm curious, was it just that I happened to select one of the 3 lots Petey has so aptly pointed out for us! 🤔 interesting.

It would be amazing if they could do anything for any other reason besides their own agenda…..I think we all deserve better game play for our buck. I haven't experienced all of these bugs myself, but that might be because I've heard about them and just avoid using buggy packs when I can (or using work arounds). It amazes me that I have a long list of annoyances and bugs completely distinct from what's been mentioned here. It just really is that bad. One of my top issues is hairy servos. If you have both Discover University and High School Years, servos can generate with facial and/or body hair that requires shaving. With body hair this is particularly bad, because shaving must be done in the shower, and water is very bad for servos.

People complain about all the bugs in the game and fair enough, but I think they often act like this is just a Sims 4 problem, that the previous games never had issues, and that's not true. Playing around and modding things that don't work or don't work the way I want has been my playing experience since Sims 2. Sims 3 Late Night gets remembered for being one of the best packs but in my game some of the major features of the pack were seriously bugged, some to the point of being unplayable, like bands. Sims 3 World Adventures, which was a favourite of mine, had an issue where you couldn't complete the aspiration to explore all tombs in all three locations because the adventure board in Champs Les Sims became bugged after you'd completed the first few adventures. None of these things were ever fixed. At least in Sims 4 they do try to patch in bug fixes.

Currently i get the bug where the Finchwick fair just..dosent appear, the space where you can summit animals and/or objects is just empty, despite the fair clearly taking place and the 10% bonus when selling objects at the market stands that only appears during the fair is there aswell, theres just simply no way for my sim to submit either animals or objects for judging :(

Windenburg, Will no longer load on the world screen. When you try to go to it , the screen turns white and you must restart your game. It's been reported all over Reddit as well into EA. # save windenburg.😢😮

I had this issue with Willow Creek, screen turned white. Loaded the game without For Rent. And it worked again.

One time I was able to get my chicken back from the Finnwick fair, but never again. I kept having to cheat to buy myself new animals and get their relationships back up to max, it was very annoying

So far the only bugs on the list i experience is the toddler bug(i started the 100 babies challenge and only some of my kids get the top notch toddler trait others don't) and I've experienced the simfluinser/video game streamer career work from home bug so i just stick with sending my sims to work now this bug i don't know if its just me experiencing this but during my 100 babies challenge i had to stop a few times because my teen sims have stopped moving up in after-school activities from the highschool years expansion pack i even had my teen sims quit the after-school activity and join a different one but the still don't go up even if they have the bar always maxed out or if they go to the after-school activity with good emotions it is very annoying to me and i had to stop the challenge multiple times i don't know if this is a highschool years problem or a me problem or a console but its a very big problem in my opinion

this is awful. i havemt played ts4 in at least six months and i was kind of itching for a new playthrough with cottage living. It doesn't seem like theres much point with all these new bugs.

Everytime I tell them to cook, they start and then stop halfway through and I have to tell them to continue. Also my spellcasters aren't leveling up like their supposed to. They're gaining exp and the bar fills up but they never get to the next level. There's probably more that I just can't remember but those are the main two I'm upset with

tbh I've been deliberately avoiding maxing my toddlers' skills because I find the boosts from top notch toddler make child skillgains too fast and you loose out on watching the child progress. If the top notch toddler trait is fixed to reliably appear, I'd want a mod to stop it.

Not sure if you now that, but if you try to make a trans sim theres a lot of bugs with clothes, accessories, nails, etc. As a trans person this makes me sad.

I always make the best effort for my toddlers to have high skills if not all maxed (which is the case most of the time) and genuinely didn’t know the ‘Happy Toddler’ trait even existed until this video 🥲 Also I literally got Cottage Living 2 DAYS AGO and named my Hen and Rooster, that I raised from Chicks by the way, Hetty and Henry respectively after the infamous British vacuums. Anyway, I submitted Henry to the fair and was devastated when I saw the notification saying the fair was ended and he was nowhere to be seen. I looked it up straight away and saw some people able to find them in Household Inventories but unfortunately the same could not be said for poor Henry. I’m still mourning and I don’t even have a graveyard to show for it (plus Hetty got taken by foxes so I essentially lost both of my babies in the first ingame week of playing) The Sims is getting more and more broken as more packs come out and it’s not fair on us as active players who just want to enjoy the game
