Yep, those dumpsters aren't going to stay looking new if they're out there making money for you. Just manage your customer's expectations when it comes to charging for damage. A written contract is better than a verbal, but a verbal notice about how you'll charge for damage is better than nothing, and it avoids surprises for your customers when it comes to extra charges for damage to your property. There's a fine line between keeping those repeat customers happy, and not letting them take advantage of you. Great video, keep grinding!

His company may have insurance that covers damage he does to your dumpster. You may want to get collision insurance for one ugly dumpster that you rent out for demolitions. UHaul offers insurance when they rent out their equipment. You could offer customers to buy insurance or pay out of pocket if they decline the insurance. Thanks for the video!

If you have a welding machine you can spot weld 1/8 steel rod around the edges of the dent and use a long crowbar and 2X4 block of wood as a fulcrum to pull the dent out. Break of the rod and retack closer to the center of the dent and repeat.

its a dumpster trailer...damage is normal i would 100% expect damages and not charge extra unless i could determine it was deliberate ...its part of the game nothing stays new forever
@FloridamanForever2 ай бұрын
Damage is different from wear and tear. Customers who damage equipment has to pay. The only other option is to raise the prices on customers who takes good care of the equipment and that is bad for business.
@JackofHaulTrades2 ай бұрын
Absolutely not. Damages are not normal, now wear n tear is a different story. I understand that nothing stays new, and that's why I didn't charge for scratches on the dumpster or wrap damage. But now when you start bending metal, that's a different story brotha!
@jonathancalderon76822 ай бұрын
You should put 2x4 on your rails. That way the wood takes the damage befor your metal. 2x4 is small enough for them not to be too big like 2x6 or 8.

80 to get a lawnmower is expensive
@JackofHaulTrades2 ай бұрын
Not really. Bigger companies would charge their minimum, which is usually around $130. That lawnmower is only going to bring like 3-4 in scrap, which isn't even enough to cover fuel costs...
@richyg3993Ай бұрын
You have to really know your worth. Sometimes going out for $80 just doesn’t make sense when you account for fuel, your time and wear/tear on your truck and trailer. Remember, your truck is an employee. It HAS to get paid too. It’s your most valuable tool. Also, People who won’t pay your minimum to pick up a lawn mower and maybe a bag or two is probably not the customer you want anyway. This helps weed out your ideal/ serious customers.
@JackofHaulTradesАй бұрын
@richyg3993 Agreed! if it's a local job and I'm driving by, it's okay to negotiate. But if I'm driving out of the way, I can't negotiate that minimum. Even if it's scrap since scrap, because if it would have been trash, the price would have been $100 minimum
