I deeply respect the Double Dash love in this one. It was my favorite mario kart growing up, I used to play with my little brother in the back seat so i'd drive and he'd shoot items. Fun Fact: the positions of the cpus in Super Mario Kart are determined by the character you choose, so since you chose DK Jr for that game, Toad will always finish in 1st (or 2nd if you finish first) unless you interfere and cause them to fall behind just before finishing the final lap

Just did some research, and I couldn't find anything in the manual that mentions this. Unless it was in the Japanese manual, the only official references I could find were from Nintendo Power. Allegedly, there's also fanart of Koopa reporting the incident to the police that was published in the same issue, but I sadly could not find any evidence of it.

God, the DS levels filled me with so much nostalgia. You know how you get first everytime? You just play attention to the bottom screen. It shows you all, including fake item boxes and all other obstacles. Once you get up to first, pay attention to everyone’s inventory. It's worth noting that one of the main reasons Bowser probably did so good is because many Mario Kart games have a "Rival" mechanic where a specific CPU is really good, and Bowser is consistantly one of DK's main rivals. Furthermore, Toad is DK Jr.'s main rival in Super Mario Kart, but is never regular DK's rival.
