The problem with foiling is 1 the price. 2 the size of the board and the diffculty to transport it with the sail to the water ( specially with tides) 3 All those screws. 4 The technical side of the rigging of the foil 5 In winter you have got to get wet to get on it Other wise for lakes you can't beat it...

Good job holding off Mario! It's clear that he's faster, but maybe he was using a smaller front wing and that made it harder for him to stay on the foil in the jibes. I don't know.

It's easy to understand that there are more intermediates, and less advanced wsurfers. The more complicate and hard to learn - the less fressh people will join it. ps. Come back to Greece, its been quite windy last 15 days.

I don't know -- I find windfoiling much easier to learn to be honest. But I think it seems to be a rare opinion. The more difficult aspect is, like you say, it is complicated. I didn't know when I bought my foil for my windsurfing/windfoiling hybrid board, whether the foil would work or not. And it turns out it didn't work straight away, I needed to add a few parts. So the sport is a bit more expensive and a bit more opaque. But if you hand the average person a working windfoiling setup or windsurfing setup and have them try it, I bet more people would actually stick with the windfoiling. It just takes less energy and has a more unique look to it from the outside, and for "real conditions" (aka less than 15 knots) I would say most people are going to actually prefer the sensations. So it's harder in some ways but easier in others. 🤨 P.S. I enjoy both quite a bit, but this particular moment I'm feeling more foil-happy😛

​@@hanslaught2351 for me windfoiling is way harder than going with fin. Fin is easy :) ofc if you use freeride foil then its easy i suppose. But i am on slalom foil so its way harder then using a fin.

@@justelis5179 I wouldn't know, only use freeride foil as you guessed. Slalom has got to be a bit more difficult. For fin I go freeride or freestyle wave / wave...some race sails here and there. And it just takes more effort from me. A bit more fun on the fin though, if those 20+ knot days come. Hoping to get to the level to try proper slalom foiling!
