Renewed for 40 yrs. Since going electronic, I found American Flyers much easier and cheaper. 2 test.One in the middle and one at the end. Price is much better. Pay once,your paid for life ! AOPA is a good,helpful aviation foundation. But,money is tight these days. My AOPA membership money will just have to be enough. I have to look out for #1. By the way,I just completed my eFIRC today 04/29/22 with American Flyers.

I finished the AOPA efirc about a week ago also. I failed one module as well and was sweating bullets when I re-took that test. I created a folder on my computer and tried to save as many links and additional material as possible to have that information for review. I really like the course but wish they would put out a pdf of at least the required models for review during the next two years. The goal is not only the renewal but giving instructors useful information that they can refer back to from time to time to help them be more effective instructors. I started it three months before my expiration with a goal of trying to accomplish one module a day if possible to not have to rush before expiration.

Congrats Todd and Happy New Year! My CFI Hotrod was the late Bill Kershner. I had the fortune of meeting him and having him autograph his book, The Flight Instructors Manual, 2nd Edition, right after earning my initial CFI 40 years ago. As far as best CFI’s, the guy that prepped me for my CFI, Robert Redfern who was assistant chief pilot at Florida Institute of Technology when I was there in the 80’s was the best CFI I ever flew with and learned from not to mention one of the best stick and rudder guys I ever flew with.
