alex vincent (andy's actor) has said in convention panels that the crying scene looks so genuine because he was Actually Crying. for actors, crying on command is pretty difficult, especially in short scenes, and he was 6 so it was extra hard for him - but according to him, he got so stressed out about the idea of doing it badly that he just started genuinely crying anyway. poor guy

Chucky isn’t scary. However. The type of horror these movies have are very unique. Try putting yourself in the shoes of a child and think what kind of mental trauma that would do to you. Also, it’s what Chucky ultimately does to Andy that makes it scary. He didn’t kill him. But he ruined his life. Killed his aunt. Got his mom thrown into a psychiatric institution. Also there’s a fear in children when nobody believes them. To think what kind of trauma that would do is the real fear that makes Chucky scary.

17:42 My theory on it was since he's a human soul in a doll the voodoo turns the doll body more human the longer he's in there. Plastic becomes human skin, plastic teeth become real teeth. Later on the doll's ginger hair turns into Charles Lee Ray's dark hair. They were gonna have him grow stubble as well but they eventually didn't.

Oh-ho, man! The Child's Play franchise! If you loved Chucky in this film, you'll love him even more later on! Kudos to Brad Dourif for maintaining the role for seven movies and now a TV series! I should note that there IS a remake of the film, but it's from MGM, the plot is not about a killer doll, and Brad Dourif doesn't voice Chucky in that one. It's about an out of control AI, and Chucky in that film is voiced by none other than Mark Hamill. Again, though, the remake has nothing to do with this.

Some fun facts The movie was originally going to be titled "Batteries Not Included" but they thought that kind of gave away the plot of the movie as well as the main reason Karen raises her suspicions. Chucky's movements in this film were mostly done via puppeteering (including a team of 11 puppeteers), the lead puppeteer controlled Chucky's mouth via radio using a rig that captured his own mouth movements, basically how motion-capture works today... But in some scenes you can obviously notice that Chucky is either replaced by a child, or a little person (the movements are more humanlike, Chucky's height changes, and the special FX used for makeup are a dead giveaway. The scene where Chucky is on fire was actually a little person, who was genuinely set ablaze Chucky is based off of the Cabbage Patch Kids line of dolls. The scene where the doctor gets shocked took 27 takes because it wasn't always easy to control the doll. Alex Vincent (Andy) has his sister also perform in this movie as one of the real life human replacements for Chucky. when using human replacements for Chucky, they we're taller than the original doll by around 30%, so they made the sets 30% larger in an effort to mask the difference.

You can look him up on Wikipedia but basically he was a revenge doll sent to the family by a servant they treated badly and it was said that he would move around, slash toys and move things as well and the boy who owned him would always say that Robert did it. I don't think he actually killed anyone though he is kept in a museum and he is said to have cursed people for disrespecting him so much so that people wrote him letters saying sorry and to take his curse off them. The voice of Chucky is the guy that plays Grima Wormtongue in the Lord of the Rings movies, Brad Dourif. Child’s Play 2 and Bride of Chucky are good sequels.

When I was a kid my grandma got me a My Buddy Doll, however when my mom saw Childs Place and Chucky looked like a My Buddy doll she threw it away very fast. Chucky threw the knife and hit the friend in the eye and she threw herself backwards out the window. That makes it somewhat believable that Andy's Prints could have been on the counter.

One horror parody/comedy you have to watch is Tucker and Dale vs Evil, which is a grossly under rated gem, that unfortunately didn't get much love at the box office, but has since started to become the newest, must watch cult classic.

Like most people, this movie made me shit my pants, but looking at the movie now, it can be funny. But you've got to admit, the animatronics they did to bring Chucky to life was pretty impressive, especially considering that this was in the late 80s.

8:45 NO!!!! That kid has a GOOD GUY doll, NOT a Chucky doll. The over grown man in a good guy doll suit on the tv commercial Andy was watching said All the good guy dolls have individual names from one another. Chucky named himself as such, cuz that is his nickname for Charles and it hides his true identitiy.

Haha, this was amazing. I loved the reactions. Okay, when Emma clacked her hands, I wasn't expect it, and it startled me. Not one of my finer moments. 😜 There should be a counter every time Emma says, "Bruh". hahahaha. At times Emma looked traumatized, poor Emma. The reactions were really funny. I really really appreciate you three. When I see a new review, it really makes my day. #TeamEmma

Fun Fact:It wasn`t all animatronics and Dourif. Ed Gale(The main burglar from "Home Alone", the little guy)and John Franklin(Isaac Chroner from "Children of the Corn" and "Cousin It" from the `90s "Addams Family" Films)did stunt work and the Good Guy voice and the kids in the cartoon commercial Andy watched at the beginning were done by Edan Gross who was 7 at the time of this film and 9 at the time of the sequel, Mr. Gross is now a successful businessman in San Jose.He retired from acting after "Cult of Chucky".
