I tried doing the same thing a while back, the problem was that if its connected with only VBUS and Ground the default power will be 5V at 1Amp thats 5 watts nothing more. if the unit needs 2amps at 5volts it will take a while to charge it compared to charging it with micro usb.

At 4:10 right after you solder the usb c adapter to the board the camera jumps and suddenly there's a small bit of red wire your soldering on that wasn't there before. What's it for? Im researching how to do this swap so I may possibly to it to both of my daughters Galaxy Tab A tablets. The Micro USB plugs are just not strong enough to handle the riggors imposed by small children. USB c, however, I feel would hold up alot better. @@MrSatech That's why you can't use a cable with USB-C on both ends. The current sink (power bank) does not tell the current source (USB charger) to make power available. This is done by two 5k1 pull-down resistors on the power bank side, connected to pins CC1 and CC2. This is an important feature of USB-C. Omitting it results in it only working with cables with USB-A on one end and USB-C on the other. But we all know that double-sided USB-C/USB-C cables are the future.
