I was on practical training in a hospital (im studying to get a cook certificate). I was cooking there for 3 months and its more complicated than it look. There poeple with different conditions. Some pople require their meal to be in liquid form and others can eat regular food. So you cook alot of different meals. There are specialists who always check what you cook, it has to meet quota for nutrition and vitamins. The work starts at 4 am, because you have to prepare breakfast for both patients and personnel. Its sent to the personnel area where nurses heat the food when patient asks for it.

Yeah I understand how you felt. Plus I feel that giving the patient a choice to choose their meal is kinda counterproductive since while it does helps elevate their moods it doesn't help with their recovery especially when they asked for fast food as part of their menu.

When I was in hospital I didn't have a choice. I had mouth surgery and they gave me a salad. Depends on the country and the hospital

Not going to lie. Compared to a 100 years of school and 100 years of prison, 100 years Hospital actually shows improvement. From porridge and boiled meats to spaghetti and meatballs with a fruit smoothie, that's a massive leap. Minus the occasional downside (1940's no meats)

I love the addition of hospital photos from every decade. I learned so many surprising facts, the idea of "room service food" in a hospital is crazy to me, a bit too much but I guess it's a nice bonus since medical care in us is not free

I spent a week in two different hospitals in the last two years. Our local hospital had several choices on the menue but the only reason I'd say it was good was because I had a week to figure out what to order that was ok. The second hospital was in one of my state's top hospitals, they had more choices than you could think of and the food was amazing.

Cooking Hospital food is complicated cause there is several ways they have to be cooked, my dad who has serious heart issues is on the cardiac diet, and my wife is a Nurse so there's other ways they have to cook it due the persons needs, i respect them for the cooking all those meals with each patient having different diet or restrictions

You should try hospital foods in Asia. My cousin is married to a Korean-American and they had their children there because of work. She would often send me pictures of what they would feed her in post-partum facilities (literally a place where new mothers would recuperate from labor for sometime). They would feed her lobsters, shrimp, fish, chicken, and a bunch of veggies. She also would always have a soup called seaweed soup because it, apparently, increases milk production. It’s so healthy and delicious.

I feel like the food in the 2010s only applies to private hospitals. Publicly funded hospitals definitely dont have the funding for that type of food. It's usually mass produced in a kitchen, and there is no IPad ordering. You take what you get.

When I had an overnight visit a couple years ago it went like this: Breakfast - toast that was simultaneously burnt and undercooked Lunch - an extremely dry turkey sandwich with no butter or mayo for moisture Dinner - microwave lasagna with frozen veg that was cooked to death and the worst mashed potato I've ever had.
