When making from scratch Makes 2-3 servings 2 tablespoons black bean paste 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 1/4 choice of meat 1 white onion diced Choice of diced vegetable (s) 2 cups water Noodles To thicken the sauce 1 teaspoon sugar 2 tablespoons potato starch 1/4 cup water Cook meat with oil, after cooked add onions and vegetables, stir fry for a few minutes. Make room in middle pan, add 1 tablespoon vegetable oil then add 2 tablespoons black bean paste. Fry the paste for 2 min then stir in the meat and veggies. Add 2 cups water, stir well. Cover on medium low heat for 10 minutes. Remove cover, stir. Prepare thickening starch. Slowly drizzle a little at a time and stir the same time. Turn off heat and add 1-3 drops of sesame oil and stir. Cook noodles (same way you cook spaghetti), rinse with cold water (to keep the noodles chewy), drain. Plate noodles and ladle hot sauce over. *Sauce is good with rice as well for those that don't like noodles
