Click to hear the amazing story behind this scene! • Ronald Neame on Workin... This song was recorded in stereo, but released on DVD with a poor mono track. I've replaced the mono track with full stereo - enjoy!

Saw the incredible Judy in concert in San Francisco, right after her Carnegie Hall triumph. From the moment she stepped on stage, she had the packed Civic Auditorium on their feet, cheering...and we never sat down. Hers was an incredible talent.

What an amazing blessing! I would have given a lot to have seen her sing live, but she died before I was born. My grandmother and I used to watch her movies together, and now that I teach people to sing, I try to pay forward the joy that Judy brings, to those I teach!❤❤❤

Garland improvised this whole scene (my uncle worked on the set.) The song is not a great one but she makes it seem great. The footage captures her as she was in thousands of concerts, She is basically playing herself here. I saw her in live concerts. I can't describe the effect she had on her audiences. Not one gimmick. Just a great artist giving 200%. At her best, no one could touch her. She always moved the audience.

Absolutely Jeh... me too I saw her live as well.... tiny little thing... fabulous. This song in this movie is shite... Not Judy... the producers forced her to sing this... and then whats his name in years later slandered her again... remember star is born..... because he didnt understand her and that she was forced to do this shite because, once again, contracted without content approval. Bastards... singing about a fucking cow LOL she today would have loved our comments and agreed... Judy always alive... through us. Jeh. peace and love.

Judy Garland was born to be a singer. Despite her tragic private life, her career as a singer always glittered. Lots of her fans, including me, still love her. She was just like an angel, who sacrificed herself to bring joy and happiness to her fans.

I am so grateful to read these wonderful comments. To know that so many appreciate and love Judy Garland so much, especially so many young people. Just to know that this younger generation is not missing the magic of the Judy Experience . I do listen to Judy everyday but I also watch her movies pretty much every day and have seen every movie she has made and all of her appearances and TV shows. I read everything on KZbin and have pictures of her on my walls. I even ask God in my daily prayers to give her my love and let her know or remind her how much so many love her and appreciate her and will never forget what a legend she is. Thank you again for continuing praise. It is important to the world and to the new generations.

@elspethcoogan14997 жыл бұрын
MyOzzio I disagree. I don't think Judy's voice conveys at all that she hated this song. She was a sport and sung the song in this clip with her usual gusto and class. It is indeed a pedestrian song which, sung by any other singer, would be mediocre. But that's the 'Garland touch'.

This woman gave her all when performing. Judy Garland will long be remembered way after other PERFORMERS have long gone. Her voice so distinctive that you did not even have to here her name before she sang a song. Way above the top entertainers and yes I believe that she was robbed of the Oscar for a star is born . However Judy will always be remembered while whoever won is probably long forgotten.

At the time I viewed this video, there were 2 dislikes. Wonder if these 2 think people like Beyonce or perhaps Madonna etc., are great talents. SO sad if it is true. Todays youth, and even going back say 10 20 30 years, have not been exposed to true talent like Judy. Or for that matter, Pavarotti,Chalplin, Mozart, Gershwin, Kelly and Astaire, Arnstrong, you get the idea. It should be mandatory that all kids watch Graland.

From 1:26 the Treatment Room scene runs unbroken for almost six minutes. Bogarde said Judy asked him to rewrite it at the last minute and they rehearsed it for six hours, but many reviewers thought it was improvised. All Neame did was to move the camera slowly into a tighter two-shot: Dirk selflessly keeps his face turned away and the lighting somehow transforms Jenny from a grumpy, sullen frump into a pretty little thing. Unfortunately the former persona would predominate in her last six years.

Such a tragedy, in this film you get the impression the whole way through it is not acting, it is simply Judy. And reading her biography and what went on behind the scenes, you understand that is true.

Great job! Unrecognized for her dramatic talent, Judy pulls out everything she has in her bag of tricks to put over a rather mediocre song. If this had been an "A" picture, she certainly would have gotten an Oscar nod, if not win. I've read that "Go On Singing" tanked at the BO and that's a shame. Someone with Judy's undeniable magic: how would YOU like it if someone woke you up at 6am and said "We've got to get this scene now, so....Sparkle! ....NOW!!" I can tell you what I would have said to them and it wouldn't have made it past that "production code".

Oh. A couple of years ago a good friend asked me to convert a bunch of LP|vinyls & a huge box of cassette tapes -- his favorite "oldtimie religious music" collection -- to CD's. He had a good converter to digitize LP|vinyl & cassette tapes & gave it to me to use. The problem is, of course, home converters have no way to sense "end ot track" positions. All must be done manually by rote listening to the tracks & on|off with the digitizer -- boring after a while but nice listening to good music!!
