Eliza Bed! Bed! I couldn't go to bed! My head's too light to try to set it down! Sleep! Sleep! I couldn't sleep tonight. Not for all the jewels in the crown! I could have danced all night! I could have danced all night! And still have begged for more. I could have spread my wings And done a thousand things I've never done before. I'll never know What made it so exciting; Why all at once My heart took flight. I only know when he Began to dance with me I could have danced, danced, danced all night! Servant 1 It's after three now. Servant 2 Don't you agree now, She ought to be in bed. Eliza I could have danced all night! I could have danced all night! And still have begged for more. I could have spread my wings And done a thousand things I've never done before. I'll never know What made it so exciting. Why all at once my heart took flight. I only know when he Began to dance with me. I could have danced, danced danced all night! Mrs. Pearce I understand, dear. It's all been grand, dear. But now it's time to sleep. Eliza I could have danced all night, I could have danced all night. And still have begged for more. I could have spread my wings, And done a thousand things I've never done before. I'm not the biggest fan of Nixon's rendition of some of the other songs on My Fair Lady, but this is actually my favorite rendition of this song, even over the glorious Julie Andrews. Whereas Andrews' version is bursting with youthful excitement and energy, I loved how much more reflective and introspective, and in my opinion, nuanced and layered this version is. I also love the way Cuckor shot Audrey Hepburn in this scene. Her beauty and glow just shined. The camera really captured Audrey's one-of-a-kind essence here.

My cousin Dawn and I went to see this film when we were little girls, this was our favourite song from it; we used to go out to the bottom of her garden, get on the see-saw ( a wood boulder and a wooden plank), and sing this at the top of our voices! Happy days.....

Audrey Hepburn is one of the best human beings to ever set foot on this planet and her acting in My Fair Lady was perfect. That said, Marni Nixon's singing was a huge contribution to the success of the film. Audrey wanted very much to sing this role but after listening to Marni she agreed that Marni should sing. A testament to Audrey's graciousness.

I don't follow celebrities very much, but what I do know about Audrey Hepburn is that she was extremely beautiful, hard working, could dance very well, could sing far better than average (Moon River), she won an Oscar for BEST ACTRESS and everybody who knew her liked her. Young women try to do makeup that gives them an "Audrey look." She is still a fashion icon as her image appears in a GAP advertisement. She did her job well, she was a good mother and she helped starving kids.

She didn't need to be dubbed, Rex Harrison had his songs made for his voice, because he couldn't sing, they just made him talk-sing. But Audrey, they had to make her sing these high notes.

I know. She couldn't sing the high notes, so they didn't let her sing.

You can't Make someone sing high notes if they don't have them.

CrazyContralto There's a video floating somewhere on youtube with her voice in it. In this version, only the line "Sleep, sleep, I couldn't sleep tonight" is her voice, but if you know to listen for it you can notice the difference.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJPIk3dsapiUnac. Her own voice. She didn't do that bad. Only the high notes were difficult. They could've taken more effort into making the song suit her voice more. But that wasn't in the spirit of the time it was made.😎 Still. I love hearing her sing it herself.

For example, "sleep, sleep, I couldn't sleep tonight" is Audrey's voice. And it sounds a lot better than the KZbin version with a ROUGH, early version of Audrey's voice. You're hearing Audrey's finished voice there and it sounds perfect.

That is ridiculous. Audrey was a superb actress. She's timeless, and could probably play anything she had wanted to. As Eliza, she was a vision.
