Come up the Rivals GQs going on this weekend. I'll talk you through it. I had these same struggles early in the year then broke through it. You just gotta keep feeling the line and slowly inch that throttle up without even letting your mind acknowledge it. Just keep anticipating what's ahead of you and let it come to you a little bit faster each time. I was stuck around the same time all year then knocked off 6 seconds in one weekend. I'll get you over that plateau! Its the least thing I can do for all the great videos! Could have never done FPV without you.

I will challenge your "no substitute for stick time" comment. more stick time helps no doubt, but I think it's more about how smart you are with the stick time you get (and the time spent improving while not on the sticks) that mean more than stick time. I probably get close to the least amount of total stick time for our group of racers in Detroit, always have, but the difference is that when I get a chance to get stick time I make the most of it, and I also spend a lot of time analyzing my flying and planning what I want to work on the next time I can get more stick time. That doesn't mean you don't need it, but I do view it as a mindset of making the most of what you have. Some can fly all the time and others can't. That's okay, do the best with what you're given. Great analysis JB, glad to see you out racing and sharing your experiences so others can learn as well!

for sure just thinking about racing, and imagining lines helps. Definitely not as much as actual stick time but its close.
@JohnEFly
@JohnEFly 3 жыл бұрын
@@ingrownnipple thinking about racing does help. But I'm really talking about something much deeper than that. Take a look at some of the videos on my KZbin channel for some examples. I spend a lot of time re-watching my flying. Comparing different packs with different speeds and identifying what I did differently on the faster packs than the slower packs. Analyzing which sort of lines provide me with lower overall times. It helps me to isolate the parts that are more important, and then to focus on those the next time I can get out to fly. To make the most of the limited stick time I do get.

that wall is real. How to break through the wall and keep improving has got to be one of the biggest parts of racing. I usually change my camera angle after going stagnant it takes a round to get used to it but it’ll shake you out of the same old

Someone usually makes the MultiGP maps in each of the big 3 sims. It just takes some searching in your preferred sim wherever it user created maps. Starting out learning a track in a sim is much faster. No having to charge packs, no changing props, no walking to pickup the quad, etc.

Great content, i had a similar goal this season to hit sub 60 seconds. Then after flying it, and all the people about my skill level landing in the 40's, i should have had my goal at sub 50 seconds. In my first qualifier i had same time you did 58 seconds (but we got rained out and i only got 5 tries that day). I ran it a second time and managed to get down to 51 seconds. We are having a last chance event this weekend i plan to give it one more try. Keep in mind when you look at the leaderboards some pilots have tried this 2-5+ times, so for only 1 time you are doing pretty good! Same time as I had. This year was a lot of adjustments for me. Moving back to analog because of chip shortage, and not able to get spare DJI units. Like you said, lack of stick time, and adjusting camera, rates etc... too close to the qualifier. My new plan is to only make adjustments to setup during Jan-Feb time, so i have a solid 3 months on setup before qualifier season.

I think you have a really good grasp of what is going on, which is important for improvement. And the truth is that it is not worth your effort to spend all of your effort points on improving your racing. But, on the other hand, I do think it's worth spending a few credits there - diversity and stick time will pay dividends. Love your work, Joshua

This reminds me of my Golf game. I practice at the driving range by hitting buckets of golf balls. The more I hit them, the worse my game becomes! Finally a Golf pro tells me the worse thing you can do is pound balls. He said practice with a particular purpose in mind. Then go play.

So 2 questions: 1) How much of a throttle limit were you running? (I know for me I have to run 75% on the Switchback Pro, and set my best time with a 3" lol) 2) Did you try the track in Velocidrone, and if so how far off were your real life times from your Velocidrone times?

If the course is still set up, nothing like getting a early start on next year. Maybe can take laptop with you, do few runs, take a break for email, etc, then do few more runs. Sometime trying hard doesn't produce result, but taking a break for the mind to rest can give fresh focus and energy. Trick is to keep it fun, not to burnout on training (applies to most sports). BTW: Awesome job keeping your videos real, as life is not always perfectly polished. ♥️😎👍

Oh wait. I forgot to turn your notifications off. I asked you once if you'd be interested in flying with me because I'm less than 30 mins from you. Instead of a "No thank you, I'm unavailable or not interested." You instead talked about how great you are and wondered why you would even consider the idea lol. I think some of your exact words were, "Why would I want that? I can have that any time I want?" Don't be vain. You could have made a real friend. Not just a "friend." You don't have to get defensive immediately on long stream nights. Take a breath brother. You are very diligent and intelligent, thank you for the work you do, but I think you work too much. Just remember, we are fans not serfs. Or a fringe benefit for that matter...

Since this is a standard track, we should be able to compare times gate by gate right? IF you have the video for a super clean fast lap would like to see the comparison of flight path between you and an Evan Turner.. after gate 4 in 10 frames he's there I'm here... he gets to next gate in 1.8 seconds takes me XYZ... Like F1 Quality lap analysis Nico or Jolyon Palmer... Wish I had the technology...

Hey JB, my caddax vista is having some issues where when I power on the LED is a dim red and green and doesn't bind or connect via USB. Any advice or is my vista dead?

It just sounded like you were accusing MultiGP of giving some chapters an unfair advantage, which given how hard they work to run a fair season, I do take issue with. Yes, pilots who can find a field to leave a track set up will have an advantage over pilots who can only practice in the simulator. That's not MultiGP's fault though.
