I kind of agree. I have been a JW for almost 40 yrs but faded past 10 and by and large the people themselves are good decent people. The high control aspect exerted by the leadership was for me very stifling and the fact that the leadership rarely tackled criticisms of their doctrine, always just broadly labelling it as "apostate" and don't read their material as it comes from Satan and then the whole dont let your kids join sports clubs, any after school activities, do school camps, go to university etc etc and the only approved activity is to have "wholesome" interaction with other JWs, should only read the societies publications as everything else is from the devil, dont even look at the opposite sex unless you plan to marry them, cannot go out with the opposite sex unless you have a chaperone shadowing your every move and so on and so forth. As the oldest of 4 children, I came into "the truth" when I was i my very late teens ( as most of my family were already in ) after going to uni etc and I always maintained a social network separate to the JW community. I found the JW community quite bland to be honest and generally fake in their "friendships" though I did have some very sincere friendships with some of the more elderly JWs. However I never got into the whole preaching on Sundays routine- did the Saturday magazine work and occasionally went out on the mid week magazine work and thats about it. Was not interested at all in getting bible studies - actively avoided actually ( well I was already going to 3 meetings a week ( technically 5 meetings) plus field service, I was NOT gonna add more to time already spent and besides, the wife had bailed out of meetings by that stage). I did appreciate the sincerity many of the JWs had and I did learn alot about bible prophecy etc which I appreciated but I also saw that the leadership were more concerned with appearances - and the fact of "old truths" ( but new truths then) being replaced with sometimes outlandish "new light" to cover over unfulfilled interpretations etc started to make me think that these guys don't really know anything "special".

I have been a PIMI for 25 years and a POMO for 30 years. Your recent statement about the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society (WBTS) not allowing Jehovah's Witnesses (JW) to seek answers outside the organization really resonated with me. As a JW, I remember the WBTS criticizing the Catholic Church for keeping its followers in the dark by not allowing them to learn toLatin (in the middle ages) or only doing the Mass in latin. However, the WBTS is doing the same thing by preventing JWs from seeking knowledge outside of the organization.

Hmmm, I have been a JW for over 50 years. I have never heard or thought that you cannot seek knowledge outside of the organization. Where are you getting this nonsense. Is this something that they tell apostates to say to make people think badly of JW. I have read many anti-jw literature before and during my life as a JW. It is these kinds of literature that made my convictions as a JW even more stronger. Because I saw the false teachings from these kinds of literature. I teach other JW what the enemy is saying about us from these literatures.

@@MrRklewisThe gb themselves is always banging on about not being stumbled by looking at any evidence from outside the religion. Never in the probably hundreds of times I’ve met JWs have they ever looked at anything I have tried to show them and will often become quite aggressive if you try to press the matter followed by them withdrawing quickly. The watchtower videos often speak about not trusting anyone reporting anything about JWs from outside the religion. Take their word as gospel but don’t examine any reports or news stories from the media even though unlike the watchtower they will often cite where they are getting the information from and therefore how you can find e.g. the court transcripts yourself.

I prepare other JW as to what to say when these workers of the devil try to trip them up with their twisted questions. Like this question: "If you had only 3 minutes to live, what can you say to be saved?" This is a stupid question that false religion tries to trick us with. I tell them there is nothing that you can say that will get you saved. God is not one to be mocked. As if you can say some magic words and he has no choice but to let you into heaven. Total foolishness. Jesus said that the one who does the Will of his Father is the one who will be saved. Not the one who hurries up and say some magic words before he dies. And I share this during the meetings at the Kingdom Hall. Everyone loves when I warned them about the people here. And many of them tell me that they used what I taught them in the field service and on bible studies.

Thank you Quinn for sharing your story. I've been out since 1998. You & I have similar stories about dealing with a JW wife (ex wife). It seems when I was df'd her and her family, except her mother who was always nice to me, found license to treat me as disrespectful as possible. So when she left for the last time I was glad. Getting out of the JW cult in itself is a blessing. I realized those elders did me a huge favor by kicking me out, even if it was on the basis of a lie. Hey Quinn, I'm on the west coast also. The key to leaving the borg and living a fulfilling life is to study the bible clearly and convince yourself that it is not god’s channel on earth. Start with the bible and then if you want, study the history of JW’s (it matters although they try to dismiss that). Study how the borg operates, study all the legal court cases around the world etc etc. The ones that leave but still believe they are ‘gods only channel on earth’ will wear themselves out with the whole ‘I’m gonna die at Armageddon’ thing and usually end up returning. If they don’t kill themselves first from loneliness. Bravo for being an honest truth seeker regardless of the consequences. My wife and I started to fade together back in 2015 and are still together although it’s been an adjustment and a challenge even though we are on the same page. The programming is deep and it takes time to change your mental thinking habits

The Revelation book scared the crap out of me too, but what really started me asking questions was having to go through that Trinity booklet at the book studies for the FOURTH TIME! I'm still wrestling with the deprogramming but so glad to be alive to talk about it. I really was suicidal for a while. My mother got baptized in 1968, and I never did it. i was 5. But I always questioned. I hated going to the kingdom halls. I was sexually abused by JWs, including my uncle. I was young. As a child under 10, I continued to ask. Since then I loved history and political views. I was 10 years old. All my life, I asked. My biggest thing for me was my catholic family members who have always believed in their beliefs all their lives, who respected God. In my view God is a higher power that people have their own beliefs of who they pray for. God is with all of us. Jehovah, Buda, Mohammed, our spiritual gods. But JW, organización r a CULT. this is why higher education is prohibited.

In JW world it is. Not in the real world, but yes , In JW world where you are expected to have a chaperone when dating, and then your told who you should date, and then your told you can't have sex until your married, and then they tell you that you can never divorce and that your stuck with that person for eternity (unless someone chats). When you finally do get married you don't even know the person. So if you get stuck with someone your not compatible with, Yes, 6 years is a long time to be in a JW marriage.

To answer your question @noumenanoz8819 , I think theres a mix. Some exjw's loose all faith in God. Some exjw's believe in God but they believe Jesus is God. Some exjw's believe the name Jehovah is rooted in being an evil false God, which that would explain the laws on raping woman and slavery that the god Jehovah commanded in the old testament. My personal belief is that the Bible is a man made creation based on some truth, but that the Bible itself cannot be trusted as the word of God. If you enjoy your studies with Jehovah's Witnesses, you might want to do all your digging and researching about the religion and its roots and teachings before you get baptized. Now you can ask all the questions you want and they have nothing to threaten you with. Also be prepared they will slowly manipulate you to cut off any friends you have that are not Jehovah's Witnesses. This is for the purpose to being able to hold it over your head if you every try to leave once your baptized. Just be careful the deeper you get in with these people

Leaving the JW organization has allowed me to actually have a closer relationship with God. I am no longer bound by their publications that tell you how to interpret the Bible, tell you how to think and act. Reading the Bible alone has forced me to think for myself about how the scriptures apply to me. I have become a critical thinker. Whereas before I allowed their publications to dictate to me my relationship with God and Jesus Christ.

The way your ex treated you is absolutely telling of how they view non witnesses. You were no longer a witness so therefore you were not worthy of respect. So many times a discussion would happen about someone passing away and I would hear “ were they witnesses?” And if they weren’t, oh ok, no big deal. They look down on non witnesses and that’s what you became to her. Just a non witness. I am so sorry it had to end that way but I congratulate you on your freedom. It’s amazing how beautiful and happy life can be when you are no longer a slave to your brainwashed mind.

Quinn is awesome, I love his videos! I noticed that JWs all have the same reaction to everything because they are basically taught to mimic the governing body’s personality. Spiteful, narcissistic, vengeful, nasty, angry, and paranoid. It’s like a switch has been flipped, everything is going along normally, but if there is something that JWs collectively don’t like, that JW person will turn on you with such venom, it’s like you’re dealing with someone that’s possessed. It’s truly shocking. This personality shows up over and over again in Watchtower’s legal dramas, all the spiteful and crooked things they try to pull, it’s all in court records and documented in evidence. I love reading their court cases, either where they are being sued or suing someone else. I was surprised at how much they sue others. Individuals, communities, towns, even entire nations. They are so conceited and narcissistic, they truly believe they are gods on earth, and this ripples through their ranks.

I'm not a JW, but I share their beliefs. Assuming that Quinn's telling the whole truth about his ex-wife, I want to say that it was wrong how she treated him. Jehovah's Witnesses are held to a higher standard. His ex-wife should've been reproved by the elders for her conduct. However, I do find some fault with Quinn because he got an unscriptural divorce. The Bible says that adultery is the only scriptural grounds for divorce. (Matthew 19:9) As far as the New World Translation Bible is concerned, the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society did NOT make additions to the Bible. All they did was add God's name back to where its original place in the original text. Throughout the centuries, Bible translators removed the divine name from the scriptures and replaced it with the titles "God" and "Lord." This is one of the reasons why many people don't know God's name. Jesus made his Heavenly Father's name known.--John 17:6.

2 Peter 2 says there would be false prophets, so does Jesus in Matthew 24. Also Revelation first few chapters Jesus sees all deception within the congregation, and that people would be judged on an INDIVIDUAL basis.
