I was lucky to learn of Shearing early in life from an uncle who had heard him play in England right after WW II, and got to meet him years later at an after conceert reception. Brilliant !

I will NEVER understand, why real true great (etc.) music/musicians is/are/was/were most UNKNOWN in the clumsy mainstram public (?) A friend of mine answered: People just listen to music they are personally deserving!

What year was this recorded?

to answer Beck19781 and others: You ´re probably right, but I think another reason may be the lack of understanding to play an instrument (piano,guitar,sax....) I´m a semi pro musician and quickly got bored to play just C F G Am ....I developed a taste for odd time signatures and alterated chords (Jazz,ProgRock, classical composers). If all people would play an instrument, there would instantly be many more who appreciate Jazz music ! Regards from Hamburg/Germany.

I love George Shearing. But I really find it distasteful when people spend all of their time belittling others' musical tastes instead of just enjoying their own good taste.
