Found the issue. ns rear shock spring height adjusting collar had come undone and once rear of car on axle stands big height difference ns/os. Collar had unwound 10mm. single collar design not good!

Glad you weren't hurt. It happened so quickly. Not the best place for a tyre wall. Perhaps polystyrene wall might have been better? I have a Westfield, and they are great fun until it rains. My is undriveable in the wet due to too much power/torque and not enough grip. I have several friends who have written off their westfields, but not on a track. Ebay is good to sell broken bits.

Very unfortunate but good that it didn't involve other cars and lots of bent metal! Have driven a few times at CC, mostly in a Ginetta G40 GRDC with an insructor to my left (great hotel in the nearby village too!). Shame it's so far away from my home.

Shame there’s a tyre wall there 😂 to be honest it really isn’t needed there

Warwick Prince think its just there to stop any straight lining through that section

you see a lot of kit cars have accidents like this because the rear wheel locks on downshifts. is that what happened. heel and toe stops it
@boosted389 жыл бұрын
hi mate, yes heel and toe. When i first got it spent a lot of time on airfield circuits going into corners sideways when letting the clutch out lol! and a few spins...the gear change down was done and my foot was just about to apply throttle. in the transition form brake to throttle....ive over analysed it now and important thing is car is fixed well 98% and soon to be back on an airfield trackday to see if all ok. fingers crossed time.

on reflection after checking car over driver error ( me) broke later & harder into esses. As soon as applied the throttle induced oversteer as weight still over front. 15 years of track daying at combe had to happen sooner or later. shame as setting this up for racing in Special Gts. Quarry aint got me yet!
@georgejacob31627 жыл бұрын
Damn who put that tyre barrier there! I've done 4 track days at Castle Combe and Quarry hasn't got me yet either! I thought it was going to get me one time though as I was right on the apex of Quarry Corner in a Subaru WRX when I saw this shadow out of the corner of my eye and thought that I was going to get wiped out by another car. Thankfully, it was the shadow of a VERY low flying Hercules that I'd not seen or heard! That shit me up! The closest I've come to going off at Combe was when I was in my RenaultSport Clio on my first ever Track Day and a car in front retired off the track with an oil leak and I went through the 2nd chicane WAY faster than normal due to oil on the tyres! How I got through the tyre barriers without spinning I do not know! I guess the Clio's front wheel drive and normal road tyres saved me on that day.

Idiot organizers using solid diverters .... come on think for f’s sake. 😤🙄 Use poly or other feather weight block. Just tag it. Talk about brainless. Imagine if they did that at F1. Track also in bad state of repair, far too undulating with humps and patches. Needs a full re-tarmac and level. 🧐
