I am glad no one, nor property, was injured or damaged, but the level of incompetence shown in this one video is astounding. A 2x4 board does not constitute a chock. Cheap plastic chocks are also inappropriate for an aircraft of this size and power. Then there is the admitted fact that the brakes do not work. For a supposed certificated aircraft mechanic to allow a run-up to take place in this manner is inexcusable. I just hope no one dies in this little adventure of yours.
@RAYROTHSTEIN662 жыл бұрын
That's why I bought heavy duty rubber chocks for semi trucks.. it my seem nice to have a light weight chock that you can pull out, but it will blow away or fall apart in a matter of time.

Jimmy. The best flying advice my Dad gave me was this; 'There are old pilots and bold pilots but very few old, bold pilots.' Be an old pilot, Jimmy. Don't take chances. Take every known precaution. If the brakes aren't working, don't rely just on chocks. Bind that airframe to the ground with cables. You avoided a disaster by pure 'God watching over you' luck.
@TheSoaringChannel2 жыл бұрын
PLEASE heed this advice and most importantly - MINDSET. Be careful dude! BE REALLY CAREFUL. I wouldn't want to fly an abandoned airplane because of all of the hidden "oh.... THAT" moments. So for you, your family, your viewers, and everyone underneath you: Please Be Careful. It's seriously very easy, as you just saw, to mess up on your own, now throw in a 40 year abandoned aircraft in reliability. I enjoy your content, Jimmy. Again... please be careful.

Hi Jimmy, as an early 310 owner of long standing (36 years cumulative so far) I hearty recommend the Cleveland wheel and brake conversion, far more effective and reliable than the Bendix brakes which were original equipment. BTW, early 310s have some characteristics which are quite different from other twins, especially when compared to a docile plane like an Apache. I strongly recommend getting a thorough checkout in one with an instructor who has extensive early 310 experience. Please email me if you would like a few tips. Looking forward to seeing the new, improved 310!

Glad no one or nothing was hurt or damaged. Looks like your list of things to replace or upgrade on the 310 is growing. Pushing hard for the air show date i know. Keep at it crew. Trust the plane you are getting for a donor plane will work out. Kind of shaky flying it back?????????? Will that work???? You be careful jimmy. Exciting video for sure. Wow. All for now I guess. Love your videos! Funny and educational. I was flying my mom on a short flight to look at a airplane yesterday. Long story short, there was a landing malfunction and we slid hard left with no right rudder control. I’m completely sick to my stomach about it. We are fine but sore. I’m just waiting to hear back how much it will cost to fix… and what the insurance says. I pray it can be fixed. The major damage was the prop and front nose. 😭Anyway, I’m still looking for a bigger plane anyway, just not how I thought this would happen. At least your videos make laugh. 😅

oh man!!! glad you're okay! What happened?
@tnflygirl2 жыл бұрын
@@therealjimmysworld I had a good approach and center line as I was letting her settle ( it’s a Piper Cherokee 150) on the runway. When the wheels touched down there was a sharp left with no right rudder. I had to brace for sliding off the runway into a dip or ditch ( which made it worse) that part hurt a little. Lol. But either the there was a rudder malfunction or some says my front tire could have tilted left with some bolts that were loose. I’m driving back out to airport to get the rest of my stuff out… until I hear about insurance and if she can be repaired for my hull value. It completely stinks. But Whatever happens I trust Gods plan. Every happens for a reason. 😊
@gtm6242 жыл бұрын
So sorry to hear that. Glad you guys were ok. At least it happened on the ground and your rudder didn’t get jammed in flight. Although airplanes aren’t the easiest to fix or replace.
