I love the look, the only thing I would have done different personally, was opted for a built in fridge/freezer with panels to match the cabinetry.

It looks really nice, with class. The only thing I don't like is that desk - it is very small and by sitting at it you're looking at the wall. Also the trick here is making pictures "before" and "after" from a different angle, so the differences will be even bigger. I really like it, it's one of the most gentelmanly basement I've ever seen, good job.

There are many elements here to get inspired by. I especially like the pecan ceiling planks in the kitchenette. Combined with the beams and what looks like a 2nd color of planks? Set off with the 3 small pendants. I've been vaguely unhappy with my small kitchen and this ceiling treatment will make me happy. Copying it.

There are a few ways and we've done it in various ways for different designs - It really depends on the look you're after! Sometimes you embrace the column... Sometimes you make it into something else as if it were there on purpose.

I wouldn't see any problem with having a nice leather chair with some small wheels. I just wouldn't be incline to put a big gaming/ergonomic chair that would make it look to "corporate"

I personally would've went with a darker yet warmer tone wood flooring to give it that true Dark Academia type of style. However, this isn't bad at all. I just feel the flooring is a bit too light for the overall design. The client wanted it that way, though. So I get why it wasn't switched out.

I’m part of the rare few who hates cookie cutter houses and rooms….which is why I will build my house someday. I can’t wait. What sucks but also I hoping fun is, the house I want doesn’t exist anywhere and will be completely from scratch….this should be interesting.

Looks good, but I wouldn't use LVP for the flooring. The room is not that big and reclaimed wood would look more rustique and masculine.

Tough to say. Walnut, chestnut, a stained maple, hickory.... These all would have been great. I would say the biggest factor to watch for if that were the case were the shades of leather used for the large sofa and chair pieces, making sure that they wouldn't be too 'matchy' with the flooring

Bigger rug, and you're spot-on. (Too small and it looks like "a postage stamp in the center of a sheet of paper" or you run the risk of it looking like a lifeboat in the center of the ocean, with all the furniture drifting away. If appropriate sizes aren't available for the rug you select, there are many excellent choices with binding carpet with a bold design, or a good binder will be able to join two rugs together for a larger size if the patterns match, or add banding to the existing rug. Choose a reputable local flooring store and they can point you in the right direction. EXCELLENT color choice, --SW7069 is a personal favorite-- and the bookcases are brilliant. Disappointed that you didn't come up with an idea for those horrible basement windows. People walking outside just bend down to see everything in the basement room. Was really hoping you came up with a great idea for safety and a good look inside. If you have a video on what to do with those windows please led me in that direction. Thank you.

Not everyone lives in a city setting with foot traffic on their property. If something isn't requested by the customer or is not a need of the customer, it's not typically something we'll focus on. On that note, for this type of room, blackout curtains or dark wood blinds would work just fine.

I hate this "iPhone look" everyone seems to be going for nowadays. White furniture, gray carpets, white interior walls with gray or black doors, black coffee table with perhaps some chrome mixed in here and there. What's even worse is the trend of painting your house gray. It all feels so clinical and dead. It lacks personality. A home should be cozy, warm and have character. It should feel like a home, not an overly disinfected insane asylum. I actually blame IKEA for most of this trend.

A home should reflect your personality. Some have a bland personality and they imitate what they see in social media, and you forgot the $95 Tom Ford Coffee Table book that every basic Becky has in their living room. Coffee table books are meant to be opened and a conversation piece, but having that book you’re saying you allow fast trends to and hop on the next bandwagon. If that’s not for you (and me), then it’s not for you (or me).
