Having bots in the game, no matter how terrible, would 100% revive it. I don't want to sit in an empty server for 20 minutes before someone joins and then leaves because it's a 1v1 FFA and that's no fun. A couple of bots that we can dunk on to pass the time would mean that more people would spend 20 minutes in an empty server dunking on bots until real players can come in and take their place. If you don't want to flood the game with bots, maybe add "no bot" servers for people who want a smaller but more human-filled game. Sad to see that it's as dead as it is, because these simple mechanics have allowed for some great strats and good teamplay once you get the hang of things, which doesn't even take that long. If I am to have one gripe though: Can we get tooltips for what things do? I've figured out all of the abilities through trial and error, but not everyone has the time for that.

@@PixelMixels nah the issue with Battlerite is they split their studio to make a separate Battle Royale game mode instead of entirely focusing on building up the arena esport scene with advertising or something. They shoved a stick in their wheels trying to capitalize on a quickly-saturated market. I loved Battlerite, its a great arena fighting game basically, they just got too greedy. Honestly I would have loved to see it ar EVO or something, I think itd fit - short rounds, no levelling, all positioning and skill.

Laning phase is a key part of the strategy/rpg side of things. If you cut laning phase then you've just made a 5v5 brawler. I'd love to see MOBA-influenced games try to make alternatives to "laning," but the escalation is kinda core to the genre! "Moba with no laning" would be like "Quake but all power weapons:" fun as hell, but not for the same reasons as the base game!
