I used the classic happy planner pages as a guide. I did mine at 7.1in wide x 9.3inches long just to give me some wiggle room.

I love this idea. I am happy planner girly and discbond girly. I love all things planners and stationary. I never thought about using canva for creating my own planner. I was using etsty for awhile, but not loving it so much. So I have a new way to create planners. Thank you for sharing.

Love it. You can actually use a heavier printer paper instead of cardstock for your weekly pages and be cheaper. I use the heavier printer paper for making envelopes.

@Bjustbudgets "heavier printer paper." All paper has a weight listed on them. Printer paper of heavier weight is more sturdy without being as heavy as cardstock. It is also less expensive than cardstock.

Great video! Looks like you actually have a very functional planner system. I have created my own for the last couple of years using rings and A5 format. I use Microsoft Publisher. I have tried Canva, but since I was quite proficient with MS publisher, I did not pursue learning Canva. This year I am trying Hobonichi Cousin. I thought it might be nice to not have to print new daily inserts each month. The daily inserts are the work horses in my planner. I adjusted the set tasks to fit the month. I might regret having to write them down each morning.

I make my own planner also. I hate the calendar being on the divider with HP. I also like everything behind that month’s divider. I am currently hand drawing mine because I’m terrible with cutting and printing it correctly.

I love your setup. If card-stock seems to heavy, try 32 lb. paper that is what they use the most in the planner world. I have been making my own inserts.

Yes you can get 120gsm instead of the 80gsm weight which is printer paper. It is a little more expensive but you can find some beautiful papers at your local printer.

@@jennplans3927 I tried replying with a link but it's not letting me? If you Google TUL Pink Letter Discbound it pops up on ebay a similar one that I use. I have one that has a pink and gray pattern but the design isn't sold anymore. I bought it on clearance last year. The TUL discbound is sold by office Depot. They have some cute letter Sized covers. Mine is also a leather one with a pen loop too.

I couldn't find the exact cover design for the one I have (I bought it on clearance last year) but any of the leather covers with the pen loop are the same as mine and has pockets in front. I got mine at an Office Max store.

Nicely done! Love it. Planners need to be a tool, not a distraction. Once they become the thing...they often cease to effective for their purpose. The planner is not the thing, living the life is the thing. SOmetimes the planner trends confuse the two, ;) Spoken from a former planner tramp who knows all about distraction! I have this issue as well. I think for me, it's the hole punch may be slightly smaller and need to be worked in. I also think the paper choice is my issue. I need heavier paper. @marilynruggeberg mentioned it above in the comments.

If you're using metal discs take some wax paper and rub it on the discs. It helped my pages turn a little easier. I also get the expander discs. Helps the pages turn easier too. I still have to get them for my 2025 planner. It's hard to find them as Happy Planner doesn't make a wide variety of colors. I'm needing the Mint Green Metal discs.
