We are in the final sailing! Can’t wait to experience the “old style” ship again. Our first carnival was on Elation and we did the Sensation before it was scrapped. Sad to see the smaller ships go away, I think they have a place on the shorter itineraries.
@druegillis17442 жыл бұрын
Hey, Tanner! We sailed on Carnival Elation last month out of Jacksonville. I think she is going out right behind Ecstasy this winter. We booked a mini suite since it was so cheap. We just wanted an inexpensive getaway and it fit the bill. She was worn and tired like you say. Did not have that massive drink you ordered with your wife on another video. It was 5 or 6 days and we were ready to get in the car and drive home at the end. However, we had a relaxing time, did not have to fix our own meals or make the bed, we just chilled out. In our 70’s, we don’t need go karts or rock walls. Sad to see these ships go, but it is their time. Like to see your videos!

Elation and Paradise are seven years younger than Ecstasy. They and the Spirit class are the last remaining ships in Carmival's fleet that fit under the bridges in Tampa, Jacksonville, and Baltimore. They should be safe through at least 2028.

@@vamoscruceros Exactly what I was going to point out as well! LOL I too was just recently on the Elation(Sep 5th sailing), she is showing her age, but still, I don't think Carnival would have spent the $$'s to revamp the inside as much as they have to just dump her quickly..The new decor(especially in the elevator areas) is superb!

My first cruise was on the Elation and so was my second. I still remember having so much fun with my brother on that ship. I was curious what it looked like now so I looked up some pictures last week and it does look tired.

Elation will be the next to retire but I think Carnival will keep her a few more years because some ports like Jacksonville are limited to the size ship that can get in and out.
@MrSixshooter952 жыл бұрын
Just wondering where you got the information on it retiring next because the Carnival Sunshine is older than Elation and Paradise they renamed it in 13 but renaming a ship doesn't make it a newer ship. I guess they just want the fantasy class ships gone all together. The Carnival Sunshine was the original Carnival Destiny that come out in '96 , Elation and Paradise come out in 98. I have a Cruise set for October 2023 on the elation just wondering where you heard they were going get rid of it.

Since I live on the west coast, Carnival had the Imagination and the Inspiration ships which are the Fantasy-Class ships. These two ships were the workhorses for Carnival's 4-day cruises to Catalina Island and Ensenada Mexico. These two ships have been scrapped since the pandemic but I have lots of fond memories aboard them. In their places are the Carnival Radiance (formerly Victory) and the Carnival Miracle. Seeing the Ecstasy on this video left me nostalgic. It's like seeing an old friend again.

We have been on the miracle three times in the last time was this February when we went to Hawaii round-trip. They definitely need to retire that ship it is looking old it looks older than the pictures you showed us of the ecstasy. I think the 20 years should definitely be an age requirement to be retired.

My first was the Celebration in 1992. I went on her as a Bahamas Paradise ship a few years ago - I loved the old stained glass ceilings and was glad they kept that on her. Don't know if Ecstasy had any of those unique features, looks like it was all bright neon 90s style. Old small ship have charm and are fine for shorter cruises.

My husband has sailed on the Ecstasy twice, 1999 and 2000 for general managers conferences. He loved it! We have sailed on the Tropical, Imagination, Inspiration, Victory, Vista and next month on the Horizon. We so loved the individual design of each ship! It has truly broken my heart that the ships were scrapped so suddenly these past few years. We find cruising to be such a great value vacation to see the world. Your critique of the ship was honest but thoughtful and respectful of her and the crew who have sailed and maintained her through the years. As a subscriber, I look forward to your new videos. Several of my coworkers booked summer cruises on the Ecstasy this year. They were all new to cruising, and they raved about their vacations when returning. Now they are planning cruise vacations for next year. Carnival's Fantasy Class ships were the introduction to cruise ship vacations for a lot of people, and Ecstasy still holds that tradition, even though she'll be scrap by the year's end. . .bittersweet.

Great video, you were on the sailing right before ours! I loved our Ecstasy sailing given the phenomenal value for money! It was $519 plus $500 of OBC. We were surprised just how good of condition they kept the ship in, we were on a Princess ship earlier in the year that wasn't kept up as well. Also were blown away by the talent of the live musicians, even the theater show was pretty good (never been impressed with either on Carnival in the past). It allowed us to get to Chichen Itza (from Progresso) which was a bonus, but it was worth it after the first Guy's Burger and the best dessert at sea, the Chocolate Melting Cake! 😋 Will miss her, including the wide cabin hallways, lol. Wish we would have known about the Milky Way secret while onboard. Subscribed to the channel, really enjoy your "ship secret" series as well and look forward to future videos!

Hi Tanner! I enjoyed your video. I was on Ecstasy cruises twice this summer, and really appreciated your review. I firmly believe that one creates their own experiences and even an older cruise ship like Ecstasy, especially with the lower cruise fares, there is a lot of fun to be found and I have more money to spend on massages and experiences like the Chef’s Table. I live 2 hours from Mobile and it has been absolutely wonderful to have the opportunity to take a long weekend (4day cruise) on this vessel. Its certainly a lot less expensive than a 2 day visit to the beautiful beaches of the Florida panhandle and a much shorter drive. Yes, the ship is older and smaller, which is ideal for my solo cruises. One of the nicer things for me has been the smaller group of passengers has allowed me to meet and interact more of the fellow cruisers. I agree with you, that while the entertainment staff is great, the sea days can become a little monotonous.With 25 cruises behind me, I find the port of Mobile to be the friendliest of those I have explored. Of course my experiences on larger, newer ships are a lot more exciting overall because of all the added amenities. As with other retired ships from the Fantasy class, I hate to see the Ecstasy go to scrap. Thanks for your honest review. I enjoy your videos. I hope the Port of Mobile continues to thrive and I am committed to continued support of cruising out of the area.

The Ecstacy was my second sailing with Carnival, the Elation, her sister, being my 1st. I've sailed on the Elation 9 times now, and she by far is my favorite ship, 1980's Vegas styling and all. These fantasy class ships are great for cruisers like myself, who just want to get away, chill, unplug, could care less about water parks, rollercoasters, or wave pools. Decent nightly entertainment (comedy shows are great), good food, friendly crew and not being crammed onto a boat with 4000 other people. As Carnival sadly phases out these fantasy class ships, I hope they'll think long and hard about replacing them with the like, instead of 5K passenger, 18 deck floating hotels and amusement parks.

One thing we did also notice was how service (in the dining room) seemed to drop off as the days went on. Day 1 - excellent service all around, Day 2 - pretty good, Day 3 - ok, but not as expected, Day 4 we ate room service pizza. Day 5 was actually pretty bad. If it wasn't for the great company at our table, we probably would have just gotten up and went to the buffet or something. We did have a great time though.

I really enjoyed this video. We got on the ship just as you were getting off! We booked the cruise because it stopped Progreso (and left from Mobile) and offered a better excursion to Chichén Itzá then we could do on any other line so we went into it thinking this was just a really cheap way to get to Chichén Itzá and a mini-vacation. The ship was in a much better condition than I was expecting (better than the Caribbean Princess we were on earlier this summer which has no plans to be retired) and I too loved the step back in time. We personally didn't mind the lack of activities because besides our excursion, we just wanted to sit, relax, and not do much. We found plenty of places to do that on this ship.

I sailed on the fantasy in the fascination in the 90s and they were both excellent ships I love the thought that everything was nice and clean and bright I think that carnival is gotten too big and it’s taken care of not giving you the full treatment of how a cruise ship used to look. I wished I would’ve done the ecstasy I was in Miami getting on The fantasy ship when the ex to see was right next door park to us for its maiden voyage everybody was so excited people on our ship were throwing confetti at their ship. That doesn’t happen anymore of course. I love the specialty bars they were located on all three of those ships that have long gone. RIP fascination fantasy and ecstasy😢

Have cruised most of my carnival days on fantasy class and dream class…Mardi Gras 1st edition …my favorites! New Mardi Gras I hated…spent more time walking trying to find a venue with an open seat…venues too small and crowded. Never again big ships…smaller is my jam.

Hi! I took my daughter on her first mother-daughter cruise on Ectasy in 2018 for a short cruise. It was the oddest most interesting cruise I ever went on but we enjoyed ourselves enough to continue cruising together every couple of years…but on Royal Caribbean. We were on Symphony of the Seas in April and docked close to Ectasy. It was fun seeing her. So much smaller and could tell older. I feel sad they are returning her but nothing lasts forever

My wife and I were married in September 1991. We spent our honeymoon on a seven day cruise aboard the ecstasy. We saw Mexico, Jamaica and Grand Cayman. Your video brought back many many memories. We returned from another cruise to Mexico two weeks ago, aboard the carnival ocean breeze. What a tremendous difference in ship style and activities and dining on board. In 1991 Ecstacy was the greatest ship out there. The difference is amazing. Thanks so much for sharing your video.

I have sailed on the Ecstasy twice it was my first and second cruise back in 2007 and 2008 it was about what you said then as well!

Wow!! That was a blast from the past for real. My very first cruise in 1999 was on the Carnival Ecstasy. I'd forgotten how bright & Vegas-like it was. You're right, after having sailed on many, many modern ships, I could not go back to the limitations offered in the 90s. 🤣 Nice video.

We sailed on Ecstasy out of Charleston. It was one of our best cruises. To note, our first cruise was on the Carnival Fantasy which is now scrap. Looking forward to our next adventure in November when we cruise on the Mardi Gras. Good job!

Never sailed on the Ecstasy, but took over a half-dozen cruises on her sister ship, Paradise out of Long Beach. It was fine for what it was doing 3-4 night cruises to Ensenada. The tour of the ship brought back some found memories of sailing with my late wife. While in the Navy I was stationed in Mobile, while the ship I was aboard was in the dry docks, for several months. Loved the city. Thanks for sharing this.

Even though Ecstasy is a much older ship and there’s not as much to do as there is on the newer and bigger ships like Marti Gras, it still seems like you had a great time! My dad will be on the last sailing of the ship in two weeks.

Lindy and I was on this last cruise on Carnival ECSTASY. We was on the 6th floor cabin # U152 we loved it. It is a shame that it will be Dismantled. Such a beautiful ship. We enjoyed your video and we saw you on the ship. That last night most of the signage was coming up missing. Did you notice that as well? From Eddie and Lindy Lucas Lexington South Carolina

Dad and I live here in Mobile and we had a wonderful time and upgraded to Oceanview. Also met one of my newest best friends. We are going to miss her but I bought one of the replicas. Planning a cruise out of NOLA next year since our new ship will not arrive until next October when I can’t take off. I love Cozumel, but will branch out next year as I plan to go back as one of my ports. We did not like Progreso but dad had hurt himself in a fall so we just went to the port area and went back to the ship. I won’t go back there.

We sailed on her about 7 years ago and I agree she is smaller but I rather liked the feel of the ship. No complaints from us.

Our first 2 cruises were on the Ecstasy from Galveston to Cozumel with a stop in ...well, Merida. The first time, we went to see Merida, but the second time we stayed on the ship. Those cruises were several years ago, and we had so much fun that we went on many others, including to Alaska and Hawaii. I still have fond memories of Ecstasy though. The smaller size made it easier to get from one end of the ship to the other. We were especially fond of the cruise director and our waiter, John Paul or something like that. (He was from Haiti, I believe.) Every member of the staff seemed to be having a good time too. Loved it!

I was on the Symphony of the Seas that same day you were there at Cozumel on Ecstasy, Wednesday the 31st. Seeing the Ecstasy there brought many good memories sailing on Fascination and Inspiration out of San Juan on the mid-90s up to 2000. Fascination on '94 was my second cruise ever and my first "modern" cruise ship (first cruise ever was the Carla C on '89). Fascination was such a great ship and I guess glitzy for the 90s, but from your video I can see that 30 years later there was no change in decor on this class of ships. I would have loved to make a final cruise on these ships, just for memories' sake, but these ships are quickly heading to the scrap yard. Then again, I had so much fun on the Symphony that I'll let Fascination/Inspiration memories just be that. Great video!!!

I haven't even been on a cruise yet but enjoyed your video. It interests me because my daughter has been working on RC Mariner of the Seas as a dancer in the entertainment since May and due home early Dec. Yay! I'm definitely going to join her on her next contract with RC wherever that may be!

Great video. You should try a shorter cruise on one of the updated fantasy class ships, i.e. Paradise or Elation. Still no doubt they are older ships but they have a few more amenities including way more balconies.

In 2009(?) I talked my wife and kids into flying into Fort Lauderdale for a 3-day jaunt out to Nassau on The Regal Empress. The compromise was driving up to Orlando for Disney, Universal, blah, blah... The Regal and The Queen Mary I were the two trans-Atlantic ships prior to trans-Atlantic flights. Meaning presidents and famous actors had been on it. The boys were bored, the cabins too small... This vid of yours reminded me of my Regal cruise. Dates of course are not in line, but going back 60yrs for me, and 30 for you was fun! THX.
