That flap in the exhaust is for preventing the helicopter like noise when the motor kicks down to V4. Get rid of it and get an AFM disabler for your truck and it'll sound nice.

to start you should definitely get the afm/dod turn off tune i’m going through the collapsed lifter bs right now because of it and if i can recommend a full exaust definitely most definitely the 3 inch stainless carven R system best on the market!!

Pipe both sides to and pipe and then straight out the back with some tips and you won't be disappointed. I have my 2004 Chevrolet avalanche 5.3 like that and it sounds like a beast

That valve is there for bakcpressure at low rpm, it's to help with scavenging and efficiency at lower rpm when taking off, to avoid the clappy level of noise avoid any giant tips on the end of the pipe as an exhaust is like a trumpet for an engine
