I cut my hair with fabric scissors using the beard technique

So I didn't want to go to a hairdresser just for a half a centimeter trim. So I decided to try following some easy KZbin tutorials on how to cut your own hair at home. I followed the Beard Technique. I have cut my hair a lot over the years. When it had some length, it was never an issue but back in the 70's when I had a foot of length cut off and went for a short pixie, then I went to a salon! I never trusted myself to do anything besides my bangs when it was short. Getting the split ends off every 6 weeks or so really helps the way it looks and I have just never been a fan of going to a shop to get the ends trimmed and coming out feeling like I have just been to a barber shop and have a man's haircut! So, now I do my own all the time. It's not long but not short, either. But, I do have some waves and curls, and I have recently done the wolf cut because I need some layers. It turned out great. You have beautiful hair and now, you can maintain it yourself, if you choose.

Real hair scissors aren't very expensive. Maybe $15-20 or less depending where you buy them (Target, Sally's, Amazon, etc). Much less $$$ than going to a salon and does a much better job than regular or fabric scissors.

You buy the hairdressing shears once and use them every time you need a haircut, so it’s not the same as going and paying for a haircut. And you can get a really cheap pair that are way better than fabric scissors for your hair.

Do yourself a favor and splurge on the salon scissors. Even if you use them just once, they essentially pay for themselves in the fact that you didn't pay for a visit to the salon, and you own something you can just put away until you want to use them again. I've been cutting my own hair for 20+ years and I can tell you--using sharp, professional scissors makes a HUGE difference (although it looks like you did a nice job with your fabric scissors).
