I decided to remove the original strap of my vintage Saint Cloud GM (gasp!) I have ZERO regrets about my 'refurbishment'. I'm basically married to this bag, so I'm not worried about resale value. In case you wanted to know more about my beloved canvas strap here's the deets on it! This is such a great way to modernize this vintage classic! Your welcome my first name is Lisa !! It was such a changer for the strap for me as well because that loop piece kept slipping and it was driving me nuts !!! I think that strap makes the bag look more modern and it that’s a great bag !!!!! I use that strap on my favorite mm also I don’t like it on my speedy either I prefer the vachetta bag and my pochette metis has been in repair for 2 months so I don’t recommend it , I was thinking of adding a St. Cloud GM with your idea in mind !! I like that you altered the bag for your lifestyle. I purchased a original style (non bando) speedy 35 and a speedy 25 and will be adding bridge connectors to the torn tabs on the side to make it suit my lifestyle. Definitely didn’t want to buy a new piece when I could get something with more patina. I have the LV canvas strap and it’s amazing. I do wish the lv wasn’t as cut off as it is. Thanks for your video! You inspired me! I just found a St. Cloud gm on the fb addicted group for $300! I’m gonna pop my mono strap on it (I use my mono strap on my favorite mm too) I got my vintage keepall 45 from my birth month and year! (4/1988!) this one is October 1990 and October is my fav month and the 90’s were my fav decade so I’m excited to wear it with the mono strap!!!

I have a Saint Cloud GM too I send the bag back luis to replace the 2 leather shoulder strap holder before I did I clean the little shoe horse in the front and I letter shining like new because it’s real brass. I got the bag for free around 10 years ago and when I got it I was disappointed that the leather straps was rip and the leather old and dry. It was a hand me down so I was ok thanks. I never wanted to donate because it was a vintage bag from 1990 France and I’m glad I didn’t now. I can’t wait to get it back from Luis Vuitton.

I think the strap was a great decision! I love the way it looks and I love that you can use it on other bags as well. Do you have a pouchette accessoires? If so, it would work really well to make that a small crossbody. I use it as a pouch to travel and then it's an extra bag to use on vacation if I pack the strap!

You can brighten the hardware slightly on your Vintage LV by using Brasso in a 'Wax on, Wax off' method, try not to get it on the canvas though

I think it depends on the type of modification that has been done. For example, the strap on this bag has been removed, but they would still repair or replace this strap. I did once have an LV SA say that they wouldn't replace it, but I called the 888 number and they said I was fine. Either way, I did it bc I loved the look and plan on keeping it this way

Hi there. This is a great option. My only concern though is the Clasp on the new mono strap keeps moving back and forth (shifting) on the square shaped bag clasp, and that wouldn’t be the case if the actual bag clasp was D shaped. Isn’t this annoying for you? I have a vintage viva cite whose canvas is in good condition but the strap has ugly blackish patina Please suggest
