Show your stylist THIS. I'm your age and in desperate need of a good professional cut, but truth be told? I'd rather wear a hat or beanie or bun or hair clip or scarf or yep, shave it to within an inch of it's life rather than suffer through yet another 'bad cut'. Good luck. A happy new hair year.

I'm in the same boat. The best people who ever cut my hair were men. Then they move out of town. I have thick, wavy, curly hair, that's kind of straight on top. Everyone just hurries to cut it without taking time to even think about it. Then I hold off for months because I know the next cut is going to be another wreck on top of a wreck.

I think we've all been waiting for this kind of video from you Justin. It's great to see a drawing or a manipulated photo to show suggested changes for any particular hairstyle. But to see you do it, explain every step, include all the options, include all the products, honestly and with the heart you have, is a pleasure to watch. I'm at work and couldn't watch it live, but I ended up muting my mic and turning my camera off in my Teams meeting to watch this. I shared with my sister who is a retired stylist. Fantastic result. It is because I am 78 and my hair is very fine and thinning. STILL highlighting. Not ready for all white. Washed me out. BUT my stylist has never or anyone ever, spent the time you have showing and explaining what you are doing. NOW it is a mess. Blonde with thinning top and white roots. SO, I always do reverse. Have all dark roots all over head. BUT, then the top thin. SO I USE EYE SHADOW AFTER I GET HOME FOR TOP. THEN IN ROLLERS, THEN EYE SHADOW ALL SEPARATIONS. TAKES FOREVER. I HAVE POINTED NOSE AND CHIN. ALWAYS PULL HAIR BEHIND EARS. MIT FLAT ON SIDES. I HAVE WIDE FACE BUT, KIND OF FLAT 8 HAVE BERN TOLD. FAIR SKIN. DO IR CANNOT WEAR ABOVE SHOULDERS OR LIKE THIS ONE. ALWAYS USED TO HAVE LONG LAYERS. NOW, ONE LENGTH. NO ONE WILL FIX TOP. LIKE SIDES ON TOP TO GO BACK W/O A PART. SO, THEN HAVE TO TEASE. NO ONE CAN DO THIS ANY MORE. MY STYLIST 59. EVERYONE YOUNGER WANTS TO CUT IT. I DO HAVE TO SAY, TRUTH HERE ...WHEN YOU CUT YOUR WIFE'S HAIR OFF, I LIKE TO HAVE FAINTED. YES, SHE IS YOUNG. BUT, TOO SHORT. SHE L99KS GREAT. BUT, YOU USUALLY CUT OLDER WOMEN'S HAIR OFF. I DO NOT LIKE THAT. MY FACE IS THEN MORE PROMINENT AND NO HAIR😅. BUT, HER HAIR LOOKS THKRR THAN MINE. IT DID NOT LOOK THIN. MINE IS GETTING THINNER. LOTS OF REASONS I KNOW. BUT, YOU DID A GREAT JOB IF SHOWING HER. SHE SEEMED MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE THAN JUST A CLIENT. YOU SEEMED SURPRISED. I LIKE LONGER TOP WITH LIFT FOR TOP FOR TOP BANGS TO GO BACK. BUT, SHE DEEMED CAPABLE IF DOING THE UPKEEP. IF I USE PINCURLS EXCEPT ON TOP WITH ROLLERS, THEY BREAK ENDS. NO ONE WILL LISTEN. I WM 8N DFW, TX. I HAD A SISTER IN LAW WHO LIVED IN REDMOND IN 80S. MY HUSBAND HER YOUNGER BROTHER. ALL PASSED NOW. GREAT VIDEO. 8 D8 NOT KNOW A STYLIST WHO WOULD WATCH. YOU ARE EXCELLENT. I HAVE WATCHED YOU FOR YRS. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE YOUR WIFE'S HAIR SINCE YOU CUT IT LAST FALL. THANK YOU. BLESSINGS.

If we spent this much time explaining and literally teaching clients it would cost you four times the price of a haircut! A consultation is one thing but this was a whole different thing! I learned so much Justin, thank you!!! The biggest problem I’m having now is with breakage though. I swear my fine hair breaks if you look at it the wrong way! 😅 Also, I struggle with chronic pain & am at the point where I just can’t hold my arms up long enough to round brush & blow it dry. Even my hairdresser teases that she doesn’t have to do arms at the gym the days she blow drys my hair! lol I typically just let my hair air dry, but I think that may be adding to my breakage problem. Some days I just want to cut it all off honestly. 😢 Anyway, thanks again for the awesome informative video!! I really appreciate you taking the time to share this with us.

@ I bought that book several years ago and it is really chock full of information. It really helped me get my curls healthier. The author has some specific products that she likes, but they’re really full of chemicals so I chose not to use those. She cuts, curly and wavy hair while it’s dry and that’s been my biggest challenge, trying to find a hairdresser who will cut my hair while it’s still dry. They all wanna wet it down and brush it out and then it’s pretty much straight. That is, if I can get them to pay attention to the fact that I don’t want straight hair. Most hairdressers wanna straighten my hair immediately and give me a blowout. I don’t ever use a hairdryer.

I saw the length of this video when it first popped up on my feed and thought there was no way I’d watch all of it, expecting to only look at the first few minutes and then skip to the end for the result. How wrong I was! This lovely lady has the same hair issues that I do with fine hair, only lots of it, so it’s flat on top and frizzy and bulky further down. I’ve never been able to explain to a hairdresser what I need to fix the issues and as a result, my hair is now half way down my back and a bit of a nightmare to look after, and is super flat on top from the weight, with no style or movement, because I haven’t trusted anyone to not butcher it like I’ve had happen several times in the past. Your video was so very informative and helpful, both in terms of having it cut and how to style it properly. You’ve inspired me to get my hair made over, now that I feel like I actually understand my hair and how to talk to a hairdresser about it! Thank you!

I have a slightly asymmetrical long pixie and similar hair type. My hair is thick and a bit courser but also grows “out not down”. After you blew her bangs out I ran (not walked) to wash my hair and blow my own bangs out. FINALLY I have the curve, control and lift that I have been trying to achieve! I am sitting here in love with my hair while I watch the conclusion of this video. 🩷 Please keep up these long style videos! And an extra thank you from us thick haired gals.

Hello Karen & Justin - wow, what an impressive masterpiece you two have accomplished! Karen, you radiate so much warmth and ask just the right, helpful questions - it’s absolutely wonderful. So helpful and valuable - thank you both from the bottom of my heart.

Karen was so eloquent and her eyes reminded me of Meg Ryan and at a point towards the end of the video she reminded me of Jennifer Anniston in Friends. Wow!... there’s some ⭐️ quality for you 🙂 Her hair only changed minimally in terms of length but the subtle changes to the cut, drying and styling technique is where Justin could truly demonstrate his styling skill. The finished style was great and I pretty sure Karen will be competent at recreating her own version of this look on her own. Justin may have found a new client if Karen doesn’t live too far away!

Justin, you are a gifted brilliant hair stylist! Your insight and instincts are extraordinary. I live in NYC and have been to countless "high end' hairdressers and none of them understand hair like you do. I have yet to come away with a haircut that works for me and I'm happy with. I've come to accept that I just cannot communicate my vision. It's like talking a different language BUT when I started watching your videos it was astounding! I felt for the first time I'm not crazy! This guy understands me!! I have even taken to try to educate the hairdresser I settled on (just got tired of shopping around) by sharing what I learn from you (you can imagine this does not go over well :( I SO wish I could get you to cut my hair but you are across the country (though I've considered it). Do you ever come to NYC? I will do whatever necessary to get an appointment with you if will PLEASE come here. Is this possible?!

First of all, she looks fabulous!! Thank you for giving me the words to explain what I want in a haircut. I had an AMAZING stylist, Darren, when he moved I drove hours to see him because of the way he cut my hair, it my cut would last for months, growing out perfectly. He never curled my hair but would only blow it out and it came out beautiful each time. Watching you cut her hair reminds me of how he would cut my hair. I just never knew that's what he was doing.

I feel like he just addressed my exact hair problem! This was so informative. I have the same cut and problem with the bulkiness and the bottom as she had. Always thought I had to make more volume on top to counterbalance the bulk, but then, since I have an oval face, it would make my face look super long. Definitely going to try the flat iron technique on the bottom half of my hair. Thank you! I’m 54 and the retired hairstylist can “take a hike” saying that us “older” women are trying to look 20. 😒. All women are just trying to feel beautiful! ❤️

You took your time explaining it and didn't rush through it or cut out parts of the video. 2. ❤ Love what you did to her hair! It actually doesn't even look shorter since you took the bulkiness off of the sides and back. 3. Her hair looks so much more, healthier and shinier. The color even changed a little bit, a richer brighter tone. It turned out beautiful and her eyes show up now even more so! 4. I would definitely watch more videos like this if you made more of them.
