I genuinely think this is Strymon's best pedal. I also own excellent Volante, and my entire rig is running through Iridium. But Flint is just so finely tuned, so well thought out. It's a masterpiece of pedal design. There's nothing extra, there's nothing missing. It is by all means one of the best sounding reverbs, and trems you can buy. It's intuitive to use, beautifully made. It's like a double album of greatest hits.
@CoffeeConversationMusicGear3 ай бұрын
Totally agree that this is Strymon’s best pedal! The Deco and El Capistan are second & third behind. You’re right when you say the pedal almost has an intuitive quality & feel to it. This is my go to pedal along with an mxr evh phase 90 & a Keeley dyno-my-roto. Add the Strymon deco and it’s a sweet beautiful beast of a pedalboard.

I bought this pedal on a whim when I bought an amp that didn't have tremolo or reverb not realizing how great it was. I played black panel Fenders for years and missed having those features. The Flint does everything and is THE only pedal I use. I tried a Blue Sky and sold it 2 days later. The Flint is it for me. The one I bought is the "black knob edition" and says right in the literature that they used black knobs because their supplier ran out of cream knobs. I'll never part with it. I have a V1...I have zero need for MIDI. I just wanted the tremolo and reverb that I was missing. Simple. Classic.

@PNWJEEPER01 Жыл бұрын
Nice sounding pedal. VHT Canada used to make a pedal called the MeloVerb which was also a very versatile tremolo/reverb. I believe the trem was analog and the verb was of course digital. I've used it for several years on my pedal board. The reverb side has a ton of contour, depth and presence options in three simple knobs. The tremolo side also has three simple knobs that control wave shape, intensity and output level. Even if you're using an amp that has fantastic onboard trem and verb, it still has it's place as a clean boost up to 9db on the trem side when you flatten out the wave and use the level knob by itself. I also like to use the trem on the pedal in conjunction with my amps onboard trem to get an out of phase kind of rotovibe wobble from the combination. Skookum.
@ericfricke45128 ай бұрын
I like that this pedal seems very musical and restrained. A lot of pedals nowadays pack in a lot of features in order to stand out on spec sheets or a website, but just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should. I'd rather have a pedal that does a few basic things very very well than a pedal that does two dozen crazy things.

dynamic hall is a great hall reverb for hx, not the same as the 80s hall here, but it’s got a great sound, and hot springs is better to me than the flint 60s spring. multiple cool plate options too for the hx. then there’re some onboard tremolos that I’m sure you can adjust to sound to your liking with the hx. I have an hx effects and several flints on different boards, but I’d have no problem just using the hx effects (same effects as stomp) and an amp for a gig or even most recording

guitarist Julian Lage uses this as well on his minimalist rig (that was just featured on Premier Guitar). that being said, there's a lot of good reverb and tremolo pedals at much (much) less cost then a Strymon. the Source Audio "True Spring" is probably the best sounding digital reverb pedal for sounds like the Strymon I've ever heard and is 50% less and also MIDI compatible (it can also do tremolo effects with the programming app). Cheap Tremolo pedals are a dime a dozen and don't really distinguish themselves much to me from an expensive one
