Oh My goodness, this is pretty much my favourite tune from both the Australian and Broadway Cast recordings and I can't believe I've only just now thought to look it up on KZbin! Just gorgeous. It's amazing how some things run in the family - Judy Garland's mother married a gay man and had Judy, then Judy married Vincente Minnelli and had Liza, and then Liza married Peter Allen. Still, out of those marriages, Liza and Peter's was probably the least agonizing.

Now this is crap and I'll tell you why...... when she sings "You And I...... Can't Say Goodbye", she just talks it rather than SINGS it. You have to sing those particular words because the inherent chord changes behind them are fundamental to the melody..... the main "hook" of the song, in fact. Once again, actors spoil songs by talking phrases instead of singing them. They overdo it, thinking they're being all dramatic. She's got a great voice, I hasten to add, it but needs to respect the GODDAMN TUNE!
