This is my favorite song from the show, too. Stephanie Block's voice is so wonderful, and, of course, Hugh Jackman is perfect!

One of my favorite shows. Hugh was awesome and Stephanie was great. They should have released the show on DVD so more people could enjoy it.

I would pay for it on DVD. We get a lot of great Broadway here, but BFO nevr came to Buffalo.

Cavillier1970 There was a petition to have it filmed on DVD but the producers didn't allow it. That was a bad decision imho.

I like how she isn't making Liza into a over done character, but taking a hint of Liza and making it her own. Brilliant. I got to see a show, I don't want to see the perfect impersonation.

Oh My goodness, this is pretty much my favourite tune from both the Australian and Broadway Cast recordings and I can't believe I've only just now thought to look it up on KZbin! Just gorgeous. Would've loved to have seen SJB and Hugh perform this live so thanks for posting and allowing us to get a glimpse of this beautiful song and scene.

Beautifully acted.gr8.charisma from both...Hope there'll be a revival as when we saw it on Broadway,it was a limited run..Peter & Liza loved each other more as siblings than romantic partners. Her dad & granddad were gay,so was looking to replace them.

Even though I haven't seen the whole thing and I'm not entirely sure exactly what's going on, this song just about makes me cry. I feel so bad for both of them! Two amazing actors.

It's amazing how some things run in the family - Judy Garland's mother married a gay man and had Judy, then Judy married Vincente Minnelli and had Liza, and then Liza married Peter Allen. Still, out of those marriages, Liza and Peter's was probably the least agonizing.

I think the solution for the Garland women's repeated mistake of marrying closeted gay men is to stop falling for men that remind them of their fathers.

Well, I'm thinking she captured the essence of 'Liza' without doing a caricature. Maybe that's a better word.

SJB does early LIZA... Besides LIZA actually hand picked SJB.

Horshit. She does Liza as well as anyone can without doing an impersonation, which was not the point of the number.

They really screwed this show up when it wnet to New York. Biggest mistake, Hugh Jackman,

I have just witnessed the murder of one of my favourite songs. Listen to the Julie Andrews version and you'll see how bad this one is.

And then she did it again. She would have been better off to stay with Peter. Does anybody remember the name of that grotesque person Liza Minelli married a few years ago? If I'm not wrong, he sued her for divorce on the grounds that she beat him up....

Now this is crap and I'll tell you why...... when she sings "You And I...... Can't Say Goodbye", she just talks it rather than SINGS it. You have to sing those particular words because the inherent chord changes behind them are fundamental to the melody..... the main "hook" of the song, in fact. Once again, actors spoil songs by talking phrases instead of singing them. They overdo it, thinking they're being all dramatic. She's got a great voice, I hasten to add, it but needs to respect the GODDAMN TUNE!
