I'll be back Mexico! This video was the least I could do to express how great this country is. Forget the haters who just talk about cartels and illegal immigration. They've never heard of mezcal, tortas ahogadas, or chapulines (ok that last one is an acquired taste). They've never seen the beauty of Jalisco, la Huasteca, or Veracruz. Give the next gringo you see a shot of mezcal and some zacahuiles, and maybe that'll change. Tal vez. For now I'm on my way to a country that's very different and very far away, after a brief stop back in New York. If you've followed the journey of this random guy who popped up on your KZbin feed until now, I hope you'll stick around for the next country(s) as well. Let's keep going - to where KZbin has never gone before. Vamos cabrones!

I lived in Veracruz state in Mexico for 5 years and one thing I enjoyed about Mexican cities is the walkability, even in the suburbs. I wish places in the US was like this. Everything you want to do is close by instead of driving 10 miles to go to a 10 acre store.

The use of public space is something that differs from the U.S. In the United States, public activities revolve around shopping and consumption. And you drive everywhere. Cities are not made for walking. And of course, you have to pay for everything. Everything is transactional. I lived for many years in the U.S. since I was ten and never felt at home. One has define one's life in terms that are not always materialistic. I sincerely could never adapt to the culture, and I moved back to Mexico at 50.

Idk man, we have a ton of problems with crime in rural areas as well. You probably won't have issues if you're visiting, maybe just have to pay a bribe to the police which is cheap for westerners. But when you live here a while and have a lot of family and friends, alot of people you know end up getting kidnapped and killed, those bribes begin to add up when you live here and your pesos dont go as far as dollars. We have many good things but the cartels and the politicians and government officials that work with them make life difficult and it effects most of us. I cant go more than a year without hearing so and so was kidnapped and they're extorting the family for money, than a month later they find the body and find out he was dead before they even called to ask for the money to free him. Desperate old people dont know what else to do and get caught crossing the border with pounds of drugs in their cars, all to try to make a little money. The cartels are the worst part of mexico.

My last few months in the U.S. Military, I met a guy who was Mexican American and we became good friends. Such good friends that when I got discharged he was going on leave the same time, I drove home from NC and he came with me to stay a few days at my home. I was done but he had another tour, in Viet Nam. We wrote to each other, and I’ll never forget him. He was of Mexican descent and I’m of Italian descent. Same values!

i found your channel after trying to learn more about my Mexica heritage (im 80% mesoamerican) since ive always felt disconnected from being labeled as hispanic or latino and not feeling like thats what i was. i have black coarse curly hair and dont look like most mexican americans. my mom doesnt know who her dad is so we always wondered if there was a middle eastern or native american or Indian side since i could pass as all 3 of those. and after doing a dna test i found out im 80% mesoamerican and the other 20% being various european countries with 10% percent north african and middle eastern. ive always know mexicans are descendants of the aztecs and spanish colonizers but never thought too much about the language they spoke before the spanish arrived since spanish is so imbedded into modern mexico. after finding out nahuatl is the native language of my ancestors ive been trying to learn more and more and discovered your videos about the language and really enjoyed all the videos youve inspired me to visit mexico and really helped with me finding my cultural identity ive struggled with all my life. i hope you continue with this channel youve earned my subscription.

I never said every single person with meso American heritage is descendant directly from the Mexica people that is obviously not true I’m only saying that for me specifically since my family is from Michoacán which is very close to Mexico City and would be highly unlikely to be any other native tribe considering they were the largest in that area by far.

You were spot on when you said "it's the people". I'm Canadian and feel the same about the different mind set between Canada and Mexico. They were such an example for us in our 60's, that when we came back, we moved to a remote island with only 600 people off the west coast. It's a bit like Mexico here, but with a few more rules and rain. We love it here now, living on land after a decade of roaming, but still have a bit of that colourful way of living which we learned down there. Hopefully, their tourist economy will persevere during these crazy times. Peace, from Canada.

Along with the people being very humble and the women being very beautiful, he'll find it disappointing that the women don't just sleep around with guys like they do in the U.S. The women there are still wholesome and thank God for it.

@@heir_to_the_promise not immoral, it’s human nature to sleep around. Monogamy is not realistic and you only hold those views because of religion.

@@CristianMartinez-cr1eo Well where do you get your worldview? How is sleeping around not immoral? And don’t be a coward by saying, “I don’t want to argue with you.” So many people start a debate and then run away when they can’t defend their position. See above how I responded to Elisa Mondragon? You know why her comment is gone? Cause she also approached me and she deleted her comment afterwards. The truth will set you free my friend.

I miss how I could walk outside in Mexico and it's easy to meet people and make friends. And I miss the hospitality. I get so lonely when I'm in the USA.

So great to see another's perspective about living in Mexico long term. I've traveled there many times in different regions and always loved every minute. Mexico, along with Thailand, will be my home when I stop working and am ready for an even slower life. I live in countryside Japan now which I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique culture, a kind and respectful people, healthy local food, and low cost of living.

Once my dad brought alcohol from Mexico and they didn't take it away. He had it wrapped in paper and bubble wrap with a lot of tape. Maybe next time put the alcohol in your checked bag not a carry on. Also wrap it up really well and put it in between your clothes. They probably won't take it away like this.

I kind of agree with you about living in Mexico, for an American it can be Good, the food is also good but I have world famous foods I like, Mexicans on the other hand seem to like the USA better at least for awhile. Right now, Guatemalans have come to the USA risking their lives to do it. I guess they don't feel the same way about Mexico. I have never been to Mexico but I have a Mexican Neighbor.

If you have money, speak Spanish, get to choose where you live and have street smarts, then Mexico is a great place to live where your money goes twice as far as in the US. If you don't have money, moving is difficult and you're earning US$8/day for a nine-hour workday, Mexico is less good. And if two or more cartels are fighting over your town, then things get hellish.

Tommy, I would like to see you make a video of the ex-pats that have chosen to live in Mexico instead of their own country of origin. I know there are a lot of Americans and Canadians living in the are of Rosarito Mexico in Baja California. The cost of living is much less and they live like kings and queens on their retirements from other countries. You cannot beat the hospitality of Mexican people. Of course I am biased, because I was born in Mexico, but came to the U.S. as a small child in the 1960’s. Great video loved this series on Mexico. Viva Mexico Cabrones, Y Viva Villa!!!!!! Lol.

I know you would love those places as much as you enjoyed the others you've been already, like you said, you can spend years exploring Mexico and never finish. Stay safe.
