Congratulations, Christine. The closet looks great, you have nothing you don't like and/or wear, and, most importantly, it looks like you'll be able to see everything you have. Hard work, but you did it! I already decluttered my clothes, but I kept waaaaay too much stuff that I really don't use, so it's time to go back and be more realistic. Thanks for the inspiration. BTW, my trick for knowing if I've worn something lately is to reverse the hanger. When most everything has been reversed, I put anything I haven't worn in the front of the closet, so I see it first; if I don't use that stuff during the rest of the season, I get rid of it.

How I decluttered my closet. Shoved everything to one side of my closet and once I used it I put it on the other side. I could only use things I hadn’t worn until I cycled through everything. Gave me a good idea of what I didn’t reach for or just didn’t want to wear. I also let go of any shoes that hurt my feet and was finally able to let go of a few pairs that I love but that don’t offer any support. As for purses..I am working on it. I haven’t been able to let go a few that I don’t use reasoning that I’ll use them when we can go outside again.😅

Then with every item I wear I rehang it with the hooky part facing the wall. I then declutter every 3-4 months anything that wasn’t turned around. (Some specialty pieces excluded.)

I just decluttered my closet and dresser yesterday. I filled 7 huge garbage bags - 1 trash, 5 donate and 1 bag of things that are too big that are going to a friend. We dropped off the donation bags around midnight. I needed it out of my house. 😜 I kept probably 2 trash bags worth of pandemic-uncertain clothes. I'm still working and am on camera every day but haven't worn good pants in a year, or suits or anything that requires drycleaning. It felt good to get dressed this morning, and see a row/drawer of things I like to pick from.

May I suggest that you keep all the white hangers and give Dave all the colored hangers. And when you buy storage containers or laundry baskets immediately take off the stickers. It is too hard to take them off later. Too OCD? You have really good taste and buy quality so when you have to part with a beloved item, put it on and take a picture for the memory of it instead. Instead of donating, have you thought of a clothing exchange with girl friends? We used to do them YEARS ago. One person hosts. Every lady gets a room in the house to lay out their items. To save on costs overall for the "event" to feed everyone, everyone brings a vegetable or fruit item to add to salad. Literally like one tomato. Or one cucumber, etc. Or one apple. Great way to clean out your fridge, too. The Host supplies lettuce and dressings. Was sooo much fun!!!! Its a luncheon with the ladies AND clothing that you've envied in your friends' closets end up in yours. Then whatever is unclaimed get donated to a women's shelter. Was fun to see older styles that we all wore get seen by each other again, too. Dont forget to bring accessories like belts, purses, junk jewelry and clean.out those areas in your closets, too. Fond memories I have of those clothing exchanges. We did one every 6 months for a few years.

Keeping some items for " after pandemic" activities is a great idea. No need to entirely toss /donate items we will use later. My example is : I work for Temporary Staffing Agencies doing a variety of jobs. So, I still keep my casual dresses and more dressy clothing for those reasons although no, I haven't used them in a year. I had been working prior to COVID for two years as a substitute preschool teacher and jeans were my wardrobe. So, common sense leads us to downsize using our individual criteria. Good video
