The reason the frosting was coming out the top of the piping bag is because you were either holding or squeezing it incorrectly. If you hold it correctly the frosting will not come out of the top. Wilton has a tutorial video on youtube on how to hold a piping bag if you need :)

I always make nice or pretty decent looking gingerbread houses and each year I invite my friends over to decorate on with me. I simply make the house look good by myself and then I like to leave it up to my friends to make it wild.
