First off, this whole production quality is better than anything on TV, scene cut away, attention to detail and actual advise instead of glorified sales of the aftermarket stuff. Feels like I’m a kid watching the truck shows on Saturday mornings 😂. Did anyone else try the upgrade? How’s it feel

I completely agree with the “Permatex” brand anti-seize on the aluminum body for adjustment but, the Torrington bearing will suffer less unless using a High Temp PTFE brake grease from ACDelco, simply because it is clear and not blue! The anti-seize compound has metals of copper, aluminum or zinc in high temp applications. For a bearing, just plain grease is best. Use wheel bearing grease if needed, the adjusting nut needs an anti-seize for galvanic action of dissimilar metals so it can be adjusted or serviced. DK. ASE Master Tech since 78, retired.

Nobody needs dual batteries for running lights anymore. They all LEDs. Just for winches. And fridges.
@rickw4160
@rickw4160 3 жыл бұрын
I'm saying that new led lights use significantly less power than incandescent. 42" triple row light bars are like 600w. Old hella Incandescent we're often 100w each. Regular headlights are like 35-55w. A 65a alternator will easily put up with that. Your in Montana and obviously crazier winters. But your fan mostly isn't running if it's that cold. If you have a high compression motor that's when you need big battery reserves to crank it over.
@frostbite1991

just a quick tip, you use a brass punch and hammer to tighten the lock ring up on coilovers. Spanners alone dont quite get it tight enough. Can vibrate loose after a while. That extra shock from hammering them help them to bite into the adjustment ring and lock it in place. Loving the build so far though. Been tossing around the idea of either SAS or coilover swap my 03 2500HD.

That's a trick upgrade. Gives the vehicle a nice stance. Seems chock-full of engineering compromises though. Particularly the upper mount where the two bolts that pass through the frame are literally right next to each other. This requires drilling two half-inch holes through the frame in close proximity. I would have liked to have seen much heavier weld-in mounts.

The oil will pool at the seal and will eventually leak out causing them to fail. Just my two cents. I'd feel better putting sleeves through the frame and weld them in and then run the bolts through and install that upper mount. Other than that I'd say that's a sweet upgrade for replacing the torsion bar setup.
@Ryan_1997
@Ryan_1997 3 жыл бұрын
@Dansyoutube does not weaken the frame if the fabricator only welds a small section. If to much heat is be applied then MAYBE. But depends on what’s being welded and or cut/removed. The frame front to back is reinforced by the braces(cross lower rad support, and the rear) The mounts for the upper shocks won’t cause any type of frame damage if welded. I wouldn’t stick weld the mounts, preferably mig/flux, 2 passes 140amps, full prep, zero purosity. Let cool after each pass, don’t over heat the section of the frame. Call it a day…

@@redvette33 Components are undersized. I’ve done some mild off-roading(trails to remote camp sites) and destroyed several components. Top coil retainers sheared off the shock mount(welded them back). Heim joints developed play. One shock was internally damaged(c/r knobs stopped working). I have had issues after every camping trip I’ve been on. I can see where they suffice for driving on smooth roads, but still undersized if you hit a pothole etc IMO. JD fab utilizes much larger and stronger components that are adequate for these heavy trucks. These appear more suited for a smaller/lighter vehicle. Hope I could help.

The suburban and Tahoe’s are the same as the trucks. And some trucks came with diesels, and those had dual battery setup from the factory. I’m doing coils in front. I wanna drop the truck like 2 in and upgrade the suspension. I don’t mind stiffening the ride a bit. Y’all think this is the way to go? Their kit looks amazing and high quality from what I’ve seen

Please check how she moves in 4 wd. I'll pull a tire off the ground in a rut. But she's still firm and planted when I'm cornering

How much more adjustment did you have in this video ( in terms of lift ) ? Did you still have more ?
@lsxmatt
@lsxmatt 2 жыл бұрын
I went up about 2.5 inches. Theres a little more in it but the limiting factor is the factory control arm frame stops. Going up anymore will have the arms banging against the stops. Same thing goes for a torsion key lift.

@@lsxmatt I gotcha , I appreciate man . Im really considering doing this to my Yukon. I absolutely hate the torsion bar setup. The inconsistency from side to side drives me nuts . ( Chevy lean )

Hi Matt, my name is Ernest. Love your content, keep it up! I have a 07 suburban ltz on a 6ish rough country lift still with tortion bars. I can't find any info for the tortion delete kit you used on the tahoe. Also do you keep the lowers? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks brotha!

Great video! Would you say these coilovers are okay for an off road application? Or is it strictly for daily driving/track use? Thanks in advance.

They need to make kits for heavy duty trucks ASAP, doesn’t seem like anyone in the market does them, unless anyone knows of a kit for a 2001 Chevy 1500hd

Awesome video man, I'm planning to do this with my 06 Silverado, it has a 4 inch RC lift and it rides like crap, I need that ride quality closer to the cushy factory feel 😄

How is that front end holding up? Iv been told never to delete torsion bars unless you add heave duty shock tower mounts, supposedly, the stock mounts will eventually bend and break from the weight of the truck all on the mounts
@lsxmatt
@lsxmatt Жыл бұрын
They’re good. The coil-over doesn’t rely on the shock mount, it has its own bracket that bolts to the frame.
