Ok, one characterization in story mode I'd like to see is for Black Shadow - heavily play into the the idea that he's like a heel in pro entertainment wrestling, rather than an actual villain. Have him play up the hammyness but have it so that if you get a high rep stat with him, he acts a lot more casual around you when he's not in front of an audience. Maybe even drop a line about how the whole thing with him working for Deathborn in GX was a sponsorship deal gone horribly wrong.

Yeah I really don't get why people keep acting like F-zero 99 is going to be removed tomorrow.. On top of Mario 35 always being confirmed to be a limited release, it was only kept alive for 6 months. F-Zero 99 just celebrated its 1 year anniversary and is still getting content updates. It should be compared to Tetris 99, not Mario 35.

Agree with every single thing you said here. At the core, a stage builder and online features would likely justify a new F-Zero game. A stage builder wouldn't really work well in Mario Kart so, it's something which would make it stand out.

add a grand goal for career mod so that ure actually working towards something (like hidden and or unlockable cups or remixing existing cups and challenges, machine parts, music, art, tracks, decals, etc.) instead of just boosting ur stats or ressources with continuous replays this way career mode becomes ur standard gp mode and what was gp mode before could be turned into (maybe local?) multiplayer mode

Love this. I had my own version of Fzero in my head as well and a lot of my ideas are in sync with yours. One idea I had was to give every racer a unique ability to add to the chaos. Instead of just the classic spin, but maybe Captain Falcon has an ability where he has 15 seconds of free boost. And someone like Wild Boar has 15 seconds of immunity from damage. Then someone like Black Bull have an offensive stabbing attack with its front pincers.

2:34 GP legend has a 'mission mode' where they want you to perform difficult tricks within a certain time frame, so perhaps having something like that to teach you more advanced tricks would be swell.

I remember going to my local game shop and purchasing F-Zero GX when it came out. Still have it, and I play it somewhat regularly on my Wii. I pray that we get a new game someday. ( I’m not counting 99 )

Interestingly, that story mode idea has a lot of similarities to an idea of my own that I refer to as "Armored Core, but F-Zero". Customizable protagonist, some nebulous link to an in-universe protagonist, customizable machine that you upgrade throughout your playthrough, collection of minor races, parts tests, and the occasional grand prix, the works. Customization is more Armored Core in that it is far more in-depth than F-Zero's three-part custom machines and involves having to work with various constraints. But one last bit of spice from another GameCube game I like, Custom Robo, is illegal parts, postgame parts that are meant to be broken but unless you're competing in the underground scene incur a time penalty for using. Goes to show that people know what they want in a new F-Zero game, but there just isn't the official will to make it. Hell, just remaster/remake F-Zero GX like they did Metroid Prime and F-Zero fans will be eating good. I know I've been eating good with Metroid lately.

I have a few ideas but you have already touch on the rival system. Now take that and apply it to the crowd. Both in-game and player base. Crowds can bet on you. You can enter to as a fast way to win money or lose money. In-game crowds would be offline mode races while player base crowds are for the online races in a similar way to smash bros OR they can see the top players in a special event tournament mode. In-games crowds might like you base on how good you races, who you hang out with and how well you behave. However ever if you do good the crowd may not like you if you beat someone more popular than you (see reply 2 for more details) In-game Crowds can give you fan mail, money and gifts. Player base crowds can bet in favor or against you online and/or watch how you race in real time if they choose to do so. - They can clip (just once per race) your best or worst moment they can "Star" you if you did something cool that they like. So even if you might not won the race you still can be the crowds favorite. They even report you if you do something fishy (however if it is not a special event tournament I think it will take several reports and more than one race in order to catch Nintendo's attention) [This was based on the betting race of C.Falcon and Silver Nelson in F-Zero GX]

Each track in in-game modes will have both Popular and Best Racer (a single racer can be both at the same time) popular racers are normally racers that where born or live in that planet or where the track is located, they might have done a charity or the track owner is their sponsor. (A sub-text can be given to explain why they are popular) Beating them (crash their machine) mighty make the crowd not like you. Best Racer(s) they have the best time, have more experience (moment s they've raced) in said track or their machines have higher advantage in the track. By beating the record time or the best racer in several tries YOU can become the best racer of the track for that season. ------- Personally I wish to make it fresh both Popular and Best Racer would change once a season while Popular Racer might stay the same or return again. - - - - - - This is slightly based on the Popular Racer from StarWars Episode 1 Racer for the N64 only a bit more advanced than that.

Special Crash Out. Exclusive to certain in-game race modes only. By attacking a machine out of the racer track and only off the racer track there will be a 0.1 chance that racer will not show up is the next race but will return the next one unless that was the final racer. Racers that return in the next race will drill holes on you with their eyes, target you and there is no way the be on their good side, untill you start a new mode once again. - ---- Based on Starfox64 when you lose a wingmate the won't show up in the next mission.

Seriously, I still think it's a shame that X had a track creator- and limited way to access it at at that- but GX did not. Also, those rare tracks in the X Cup where nearly all of the CPUs would die were always a nice, welcome surprise when you got one. At this point, I'd take a remaster or re-release of GX at this point. Now, with Climax and GP Legend, GX is the ONLY game in the series to not get any sort of re-release. It's time.

I actually like your ideas though I think they should also include the characters & vehicles from Maximum Velocity and GP Legend for more variety and also to ensure that those racers & machines are not lost to history (such as Rick Wheeler (Ryu Suzaku) with the Dragon Bird, Megan with the Hot Violet, Mickey Marcus with the Fire Ball, etc.), same for adding all the tracks from past games and giving them makeovers such as those exclusive in Maximum Velocity which would definitely give more variety and more to explore & learn about. Though one thing I'm curious about is the aspect of having to repair/replace damaged upgraded parts after a race in story mode like how you had to do that in Star Wars Episode 1 Racer along with the ability to repair your machine during a race without the pit area at the expense of your speed (also something from Star Wars Episode 1 Racer), and also the possibility of multiple story modes focusing on preexisting characters from Captain Falcon all the way to Black Shadow and others. But still, I like your ideas and I hope Nintendo considers this. As much as I would like to have a Switch port of GX+AX in HD with slightly nerfed difficulty and online play it would be nice for Nintendo to not leave this IP in the shadows of Mario Kart with Captain Falcon being remembered only as the punching guy from Smash Bros. Let's be real: the *huge* sales of Mario Kart is what keeps them from making a new F-Zero game, I don't fully believe the excuse about wanting to make a big innovation for the franchise in order to justify a new entry, all it needs is new modes, online connectivity and that's about it, the long wait alone is enough to make a new game a novelty, if they try to reinvent the franchise there's a chance that It'll fail like Star Fox Zero.

The reason it fails isnt because accessibility and retention. Mario Kart is equally accessible, trading off the worry and execution of speed for the worry and execution of Items and it's equally rententative. The problem F-Zero has is literally just the fact that Nintendo doesn't understand why the first F-zero remains the most successful, and why it became less successful as time went on Except that one time it improved (I'll get back to that). The reason is because of release window. that's literally it. F-Zero is the perfect game to launch with a console. With a new console every one wants games to makes them feel special about their purchase. F-Zero is the perfect way to give them a tech showcase of what their console can do while being a replayable racing game. Each F-Zero was released farther and father away. F-Zero launched sold 2.8 mil, F-Zero X launched a year after the N64 launched and sold 1.1 mil. F-Zero GX launched 2 years after the GCN launched and sold 600 thousand. Every year the F-Zero game was delayed, they lost 50% of their customers. Then the portable F-Zeros MV launched with Console sold 1.05 mil. (nearly as much as the N64 on the GBA!! Nintendo's worst selling handheld! Just because it relased with the launch of the console) then GP Legend came out 2 years after launch and sold 150 thousand... then Climax came out 3 years after launch and sold 5 thousand... F-Zero's success hinges on releasing with the launch of the console when gamers are starved of games for their new console. The only time they had a boost in sales was when they launched an F-Zero with the launch of the Gameboy Advance. There is nothing wrong with the gameplay. the formula is perfected. they just need a new game with new ships, and an 8 cup layout like Mario Kart does; 4 new, 4 old, and launch it with the launch of the new console, and it will be the best selling game in the series

We can have a 99-player GP specialized on the Custom Machines form the Story Mode so it gives the immersion of working into the F-ZERO career. Players can show off how much they trained in the story mode.

The issue with bringing GX back is that it requires analog triggers. I genuinely think that's part of why Nintendo wont re-release it. Haven't had analog triggers since the GC. It's not smash, people arent gonna go out and buy new GC controllers and adapters for it.

Another thing I'd like to add to the story mode (and maybe career as well), would be that the customisable "Cody" is a real F-Zero avatar pilot AND NOT A FREAKING MII!!! Also, to bounce off the rep/interaction part, depending on whom you decide to side, have some sort of a Good/Evil system, where if you're good, you end up helping people and get some allies, while if you're evil, you might end up with Michael Chain, Black Shadow, or even straight-up with a revived Deathborn, with Captain Falcon wanting the 100 Trillion Space Credits on your bounty. As for the cast, that pic was just GX alone. Imagine adding the GP Legend/Climax and the Maximum Velocity guys (and let's go full blown proportions, the Wave Race & 1080 guys if Nintendo dares revive them... Doubt it'll happen but give Ricky Winterborn the Blue Thunder and Rob Haywood the Luna Bomber)...

Would be cool if the machines editor worked like the armored core AC customization , with each piece having a weight and stats that works for an especific playstyle, also each part having a diferent manufacturer and clan , also havin more than just weight ,grip and power stats would be cool, also not only you can change the estetic parts of a machine but also its components like engine blocks, brakes, batteries. so you can not only make your machine look the way you want but change the inside working parts to work the way you want, obviously each chasi has it's own weight and can handle a limited number of parts lets say, a slim front bumper cant equip a large and wide engine.

Those are some very cool ideas. Maybe you should get in touch with the dev of Aero GPX and see if your concepts could be implemented there; it's the closest thing to a true spiritual successor to F-Zero since N won't do anything worthwhile with it.

So, for character customization in Story Mode, honestly I'd recommend something like Dragon Ball Xenoverse just to make things easier. You can still do quite a lot with it but at the same time it's a lot easier to program preset models and do some minor scaling than it is to have highly morphable character models.

While Nintendo has made that claim multiple times, the fact is F-Zero exists in its own separate market, one that only had one or two other competitors at any given time for quite a while until recently. If anything, Mario Kart 8 tried to encroach on F-Zero's market and I wouldn't be surprised if the anti-grav mechanic was implemented in part in order to "justify" not making an F-Zero game. The problem is, the AG racing market is highly niche. Racing games themselves have become quite niche, and a majority of players either play Mario Kart (because it's Mario Kart) or a sim or simcade racer (because "rEaL iS bEtTeR" nonsense). And the small handful that do get into AG racers unfortunately tend to prefer the more kart racer esque games like WipeOut and its derivatives over more hardcore examples, the only real exception being Star Wars Episode 1 Racer which was backed by a massive franchise. A new F-Zero is a hard sell either way, at least for a AAA company like Nintendo that insists that every game they make has to perform as well as their big three franchises otherwise they deem it a failure. I honestly wish Nintendo would just sell the F-Zero franchise to a smaller but proven indie studio. Or to SEGA, seeing as the last big F-Zero game was a basically a SEGA game anyway.

Literally all F-Zero would need to be successful is taking F-Zero GX and all it's content, add in new stuff like tracks, racers and customization parts, a track builder and online modes, maybe even have a few open world racing hubs like Need For Speed Underground 2 where you can be challenged by rival racers and unlock secrets and shops and stuff. Bam done and make the money. But nintendo is too stupid and relies on dumbass gimmicks to make all their games now.

Why hasn't Nintendo made an F-Zero game in 21 years? Simple answer, they don't give a fuck about any IP they have unless it's Mario or occasionally Zelda. Just look at Mario Kart 8, it was basically an F-Zero bootleg with Mario skins. Nintendo needs to realize that they have a trove of good IPs that are just lying there dead. Honestly, I wouldn't mind. Could bring Rick Wheeler/Ryu Suzaku to a Captain Falcon story making him the Blue Falcon's next spiritual hero/owner towards the end and have his wedding with a "no more Miss Killer and back to reality" Haruka Mizaki before Cap'n F is called back to action. As for Lucy? While working with Dr. Clash as a mechanic (and maybe become a protegee of Dr. Stewart), she could have some rivalry with Lily Flyer. Imagine the Scrap Girl with a Big Heart VS the Young Prodigy of the Galactic Police. And I'd want to see Lisa Brilliant's family struggles with hubby Goroh, brother Guster and son Daigoroh.

F-Zero gameplay does not offer enough potential to make a track editor successful. Also making the game more accessible would only alienate the fanbase, likely without being interesting enough for casual audiences. I think you are better at editing videos. Game design is not your strength I think.

Awesome ideas. I personally want no more random new character's to be the primary character like the anime and GBA games did, if anything I think that killed the enthusiasm for the franchise. I don't care about wheeler, I care about what the bounty hunter Capt. Falcon does in his life. Or at least the tons of other aliens and weirdos with backstories already established, lets see their side of how they get to the Grand PX.
