I Designed an Underwater Mining Jellyfish! - Scrap Mechanic Gameplay

Welcome to another episode of Scrap Mechanic! Today I am creating an underwater mining vehicle inspired by jellyfish! I've never done underwater mining before and heard it was more difficult than mining on land, but I think I have a vehicle design to tackle the challenge!

I was originally thinking of a boat that would extend an array of resource collectors down to the seafloor and just collect them by trudging the floor. This is probably better.

Add a vacum pump, to the bottom to make the jelly fish become TOXIC for bots. Because they get stuck if you splash water at them. Then you can reload it by water in the ocean.

The torque created by the engine could be counter acted by the turning thrusters. Can also make a fleet of then like a set of miner collecter and a ship for it (could be an idea for future video)

Just a two-option tip to update it to allow for more functionality: A) remove the aweful motor bearing from the arm assembly (hard mount the arms to the head) and convert the thruster yaw to A and D either through an WASD converter block or by using the steering-Sensor method B) use the electric motors to rotate and remove the excess thrusters. By employing both methods, you have a redundancy (i.e. two different methods of rotation the ship) that takes up 4 valuable button slots on the the seat where you COULD turn that into zero button slots (via an A & D method above) and allow for 4 extra functions. I'd personally go the A-D method and hardmount the arms, this way you get the arm-rotation function you desired in the video, allowing for more button functions.

The rest of the left over stone and metal are left at the bottom of the ocean, as the jellyfish does not need these. They can break down entire formations in mere minutes. (17:41) Now we see the jellyfish scouting out for any more unrefined rocks, look, it found one last one. It will break it up until it is just a fully refined rod. And here we see that the jellyfish is finished refining all the stones. then we see the dwarf leave his mining vehicle, satisfied with how it preformed, and ended his video. Been so long since I played vanilla I can't remember: do vac pumps suck up oil and clams? This type of design would be fun and effective for collecting those. Put a piston under the seat to push it up to the surface when you need a breath.

I would like to see this jelly drill, drill a farm bot! Maybe it can have a vacum pump at the bottom to shoot hay bots while being at land. Then you can drill them with no high risk. Because when the get splash by water they cant do any damage for 3 sec!!

Hey! For the collection method, why not try to do another set of tentacles that have the resource collector instead of the drills and swap them when needed? Either way, nice mining jellyfish XD

For his next series before Ch. 2 update, he should do modded survival with the Fant mod. Or he could try to unlock all the garment boxes. Perhaps he could even do warehouse challenges, like only shotgun or spudling gun.

this was a fun and creative idea :) i hope that the devs make thrusters actually usable in survival or maybe add some sort of underwater equivalent for thrusters because having fire underwater is kinda weird.

I really want to use the fant mod to make an upgraded version of this idea with an inline refinery, and a vacuum pump set to only suck up oil hooked to an auto crafter set to make feul, that way you could float over oil geysers and feul, plus the fant mod also adds an actual air space generator so it can be survival friendly

You could just have a standard miner with wheels but with a seat that can raise above the water for a far simpler and more fuel efficient design, this will not work in survival as it is far too fuel intensive for the job

Cool! I like the looks and the functionality. It's a really cool idea. As for the piston, personally I'm kind of glad you didn't need it but also for then rotating arm aspect, you could use the thruster rotate along with the arm rotate to get that to work no?

So you don't need the bearing to spin the drill arms, just spin the entire creation with your thruster controls. And an idea to limit you hotbar controls, add WASD converter and hook it up to your forward reverse and turning controls it'll give you 4 more hotbar slots

If you use a controller it'll act a lot like a gear shifter. And if you have a level 5 seat you can change the bearing angle and speed for faster response time on your controls

This thing reminds me of my mining crane truck in my survival world. I only use 6 drills on 3 arms, but do the exact same thing with the closing.

i think you should reconfigure the button on thruster, how about using bearings, and the thruster can be rotated so 4 thruster can be tilt,strafe,up,down. so it will saving you 4 slot buttons that can be used on next part where is the resource collectors, using another creation are the cheap way, so you can turn the pipe line araound but must be cimetrical on the side and uncimetrical on other side, i mean you could program the pipe to 2 turning as resource collector and the others 2 still the drill, i think it would cost about 2 slot buttons, or just let all flip over and use another button for piston so we could probably making the resource collectors to move forward and backwards to collecting the materials
