3:12 The War Thunder driver model has a tendency to upshift too early. When you get stuck at a low speed like this it can help to switch into manual mode and force the transmission into a lower gear before switching back to automatic.

Between the automatic gear shifting and the just kind of scuffed way that transmissions and gear ratios are modelled, some vehicles just wind up way worse to drive than they should be. This is also why a lot of vehicles in game accelerate faster in reverse than they do going forwards.

I love how these manual crank guns will also shut off when shutting off the vehicle ignition (and battery drains out). The turrets should still work same speed even tho the engine is off, but they don't.

You sure? "Is my rotation crank based or battery based?" was always a contributing factor to my decision on keeping an engine off at low battery or idling to bring that charge up. Because every crank-primary turret I've used rotates at the same speed, battery or no.

This is probably the only spookston vid ill ever watch where im better than him with the featured tank. You absolutely cannot expose the front half under any circumstance. You must using buildings as cover, You can always peak while only exposing 1 crew this way. I almost never die to HE because of the br. Planes are annoying yes but thats every open top. The key with this tank is its amazing accuracy combined with the rangefinder and its aphe holds pen very well at range. Oh and the great reload means you will always get a second shot at range before they can fully react. After playing it enough you can kind of feel what terrain you should not drive through.

Couldn't have phrased that better myself. This truck has it's issues (like gun depression), yeah, but if you don't expose your front side you'll be mostly fine, and the gun is basically one shot one kill. You just gotta get used to gameplay tactics of this truck and you'll be a killer machine

trust guys this vehicle is good. You just have to sit at range, avoid cas, hit your shots, get a long-range map, have an ace crew, not get caught off guard in any circumstances, not get shot by any high explosive rounds, sit in a position where you have gun depression, are preferably hull down, and can cover most of your vehicle (you know, those spots that there's only like 8 of), and not get artyed. See guys it's easy why don't ya'll play this vehicle? Super situational vehicles are bad in wt and usually boring to play.

since you said the ratel 90 wasn't bad, you should play the objectively awful ratel version; the ratel 20. it has the same bad mobility as the 90, but with the same weapons as the marder IFV, which doesn't sound bad at first, until you realise you're expected to fight king tigers and jumbo pershings with 7 slow moving ATGMs and an autocannon that can't even pen a panther's side (day 12)
