hi fwip, about the magic pond, this whole area is in a sunken between mountains, it resembles a caldera of a volcano, that pond could be a natural hot spring. A caldera is a remnant of a volcanic eruption when a lava chamber under a volcano collapses in on itself lowering the land above.
@witherking5842 ай бұрын
I love thus idea. I recently went to climb rucu pachincha. This is a volcanic mountain 15000 feet above see level and right next to Quito Ecuador. The thought of a volcanic area around the city of path really puts into perspective that general idea explaining why so many of the resources are found in the mines and be a reason why dwarves love this place so much.

Could have the pond be a natural spring where the water is pushing up out of the ground for the reason why there's so much water coming from such a small pond. Might be good for ideas for a build in the area since a lot of springs end up being popular spots for one reason or another.

One of the things I do with the "extra materials" from the big land clearing projects is "Mob proofing" areas around farms. All those little caves and voids the plague mob style farms? Fill it with the super extra dirt and stones. My thinking is your down there "torch spamming" to mob proof why not just use the extra materials; that you're just going to let de-spawn, to fill in the areas that can collect mobs... (Like under the terrain you make?)
@IsraelBelongToChrist2 ай бұрын
Because it takey way too much time man🫠
@Ben0292 ай бұрын
Wayy too time consuming unfortunately😅 One torch spawnproofs the same area as around 10x10x10=100 blocks. So by using blocks instead of lighting you're essentially multiplying the time and hassle by a hundred.

If I can make a suggestion, you should think about the logistics regarding the bridge and ye-olde-tugboats. Back in the day, tugboats were pulled by mules and/or horses, and bridges that crossed rivers with high tug-boat traffic had to be specially designed to prevent the lead from getting caught on the bridge. I think it'd be a really cool piece of storytelling to encorporate that into the bridge's design.

You could say that your "magic" pond is being fed by a spring from an underground aquifer. But then again, the idea of a pool blessed to continually flow with fresh water by some kind of spirit or deity is far more whimsical and in keeping with the fantastical nature of your world. And if you do go with the latter, you could really lean into it by adding a little shrine in the vicinity of the pond.

I think you should run with the cooler tones in the grass under the birch trees! Personally I feel like the variety in shades is really nice, and combined with the other pieces you were putting down, I think it ends up looking really nice and mirroring the variety of the leaf colors (which I also feel was a really nice choice). Cool toned doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't feel lush :)

Amazing build man, so beautiful and I'm very proud of you for all the hard work! For the fern farm you could decorate the outside to look like the double tall ferns are hemp, which is being grown to make rope, sails, fabric, etc. Then you could have a building in the industrial district of the city to show the movement of resources into the city to be manufactured into useful things. For the magic pond, I think you could just have some brooks leading to it or even just say it's filled by an underground stream and just have an outlet for that. Also I think your use of time saving tools is absolutely fine and people that have a problem with that can go do one. I can't comment on the colour thing as I am also colour blind lol
